  • So Thongs in the Weightroom

    http://www.buzzfeed.com/rachelzarrel...t-p#.kgrXWLeZa

I saw this article and this woman looks amazing, and I wish I looked like that. It is indeed a hard look to achieve. And people are mad because she is hot and yadayadayada....But really, all hail the power of the weight room.

But apparently this is her Instagram account and I assume therefore that these aren't pro-shots. And there are pics of her with a barbell and she's wearing what looks like a thong. And I'm kind of because when I go lift, there are a lot of awkward things that happen that make me glad that I have pretty thorough crotch and butt coverage. I mean she looks like she squats and deadlifts. And some glute bridges. So I guess my question is are there people who run thru Wendler in thongs? Is this a thing? I know there are women who run in what is basically a bikini brief....

    Discuss.

I don't wear thongs while lifting; just during work.

Seriously, though, I remember reading one time (Thong Monthly, maybe?) that ladies shouldn't work out in thongs, because sweaty buttfloss can let bad microorganisms migrate from one nether region to another nether region, and that you don't want those things from one place residing in that other place.

I can't believe I'm trying to convince ladies not to wear thongs.

I just feel like my gym is so dirty. Like, last week, I failed a squat, so ended up on the ground and would not want bare butt cheeks on the platform.

I'm hoping the thong shot is just a vanity pic and not what she wears to workout. If I don't have shin coverage, I get bruises from deadlifts. If I don't have back coverage I get abrasions from back squats. Not sexy. Plus, it would be straight porn to squat or DL in panties. I guess people do it, but I'm trying to get stares for the plates on the bar not my chooch & booty hangin out. Just me.

not to mention chaffing in those delicate areas

            it's actually making me cringe
            beautiful
            yeah you are

Baby if you time travel back far enough you can avoid that work because the dust won't be there. You're too pretty to be working that hard.
            lol

I'm no bodybuilder, and she is probably stronger than me, but I'd still say "Hi, do you want me to spot for you". :-)

I don't think she has to worry about having another child with that body. I don't have a problem with what she is wearing, but I don't really care what anyone wears. Can't stand the way Americans go crazy over what people wear. Like if some German is wearing a speedo on the beach, people go all crazy over it. Why? Who cares?

I workout at a university gym. At a party school on the beach. At a university known for having the best-looking women. The most scanty thing I've seen in the gym are those booty shorts.
                  Female, 5'3", 50, Max squat: 202.5lbs. Max deadlift: 225 x 3.

I saw a woman once in a high cut late 80s style leotard and flesh coloured pantyhose and a headband at a gym once. she was on the stepper. Otherwise I've never seen anyone scantily clad at a gym other than booty shorts and that includes the men.

If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand.

Much more fun if females could start using baby dolls when working out...

I personally don't mind women wearing thongs in the gym if they are in good shape

As for the people complaining that it's 'fat shaming'.. they are fucking idiots! And I say that coming from being highly overweight.. all they are doing by whinging like that is defending their own limitations and reasons why they are overweight. I hate all this stupid 'fat acceptance' crap..

I can say with certainty that these people talking about 'fat shaming' and 'i'm fat and happy how I am' are full of shit.. they are NOT happy being overweight.. but it's just a defense mechanism and rationalization. Again I say this having been there myself.

Just as bad is this whole "to have a beach body.. have a body and goto the beach" and "no matter how you look you are beautiful". Yes self acceptance is good and needed but not to the point of delusion where they somehow convince themselves they are happy massively overweight.

I wish they could take people who have achieved being in good shape and use it as an inspiration instead of trying to tear them down.

I dunno, I can't quite figure out how I feel about the sexy gym shots. It is inherently sexy enough to be a hot woman in the gym in workout wear, but do you need the overkill of the barbell plus basically minimalist underwear shot with a fuck me look on your instagram when your goal is to send a message to moms to get moving? It's like, OK, you have to lift, eat right, have an amazing body, be fully done up, perfect hair, perfect tan, full brazilian wax, and totally horny facial expressions when you lift.

The message that normal women show up in yoga capris, ponytail and a chucks and make weird faces and grunt when they squat is kind of lost. I wish this woman would have put up a couple of deadlift shots too, maybe a shot from the day her sexy gym togs were in the laundry and she wore an old concert t-shirt.

It seems like so much "women who lift" imagery is pretty much 95% women with amazeballs bodies that are posed and styled in ways that would be more appropriate with a dude on the bed in the background. It would be nice to have more variety of themes. And.... maybe it would make women who come across these pics on Instagram more likely to give lifting a try versus writing it off as a bunch of strange exhibitionists.

I guess I wish lady lifters would do more to advertise the reality of the weight room versus just being man candy. I mean, it's a fun place to go. The "bros" are a good time. And no, you don't have to look like a porn star to be accepted and have fun. Just show up and lift.

                              Here another good looking woman that lifts, I prefer her outfit to thongs;
