  • Anyone else drink 100% raw cacao like coffee?

So I... may be somewhat odd... but I use the hot water attachment on the office coffee pot to make my own warm drink. I put a tbsp or three of 100% raw cacao powder into my coffee travel mug and fill it with hot water. It makes for an awesome little drink.

I don't sweeten or add anything else, just the lovely bitter bite of raw cacao. Anyone else a bit off like me?

I haven't tried it yet but it sounds good.
I did get cacao powder and have been adding it to my morning smoothie (RS & probiotic) and it's delicious!
I'm going to try your drink
    Thx!

I like it, you have to drink it fairly quick though as it will settle pretty fast, or agitate/stir it frequently. It looks like you are drinking some strange blood-coffee mix or Wonka's river ha!

I put 100% cacoa IN my coffee, and it is great! I understand that you can grind cacoa nibs in a little coffee grinder and make a hot drink from that - unsure why it works better than the powder but apparently it does. Or so I've heard. I need to try that

I put some gelatin in with my raw cocoa and hot water. It's pretty tasty.

I've been adding cacao powder to my coffee lately -- on top of either bullet proof or regular coffee with heavy cream. I may have to try your hot water recipe.

I remember TQP posted delicious looking gelatin cocoa so I'm going to look for her recipe

When I grind up my coffee beans I usually throw a couple of cacao beans in there too. It doesn't change the flavor much, but I figure it's a good way to get some extra antioxidants.

Interesting, might need to try that.

My standard drink is currently an iced Americano with grass-fed cream. Could perhaps try a hot Americano w cream and cacao?

There's a product called crio bru that is cocoa beans roasted like coffee beans. It's pretty good. Not raw, though.

Sounds delicious. One of my favorite treats is cacao nibs nibbled in between sips of sweet, raw milk. The bitter/sweet contrast is heavenly. A hot drink sounds like a nice change, though!

I have this from time to time. It's not bad at all. I occasionally put some coconut milk in it, too.
