  • Working through tendonitis

    I have been battling with what I am fairly sure is " tennis elbow" for about a month now. I have tried working through the pain, which seems to work well for me with muscle pain, but it is just not working. Everything I read tells me to rest it for at least 3 weeks. OH NO! So my question is, besides the obvious like squats, sprinting and a few machines at the gym, I bet people on here have some great ideas for primal work outs I can do without my elbows or using a strong grip. (that hurts too)
    Of coarse any advice on how to heal faster would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

    Look into using eccentric movements to rehab your tendonitis, as mentioned in this post:

        Ice is the best solution and of course no one wants to take time off from working out but sometimes you have no choice. Rest will allow your body to work it's magic and heal the injury.
        Today is a new day. You will get out of it just what you put into it. If you have made mistakes, there is always another chance for you.           Eccentric exercise looks very doable. What do you think maybe some form of overhead lowering movement? There is an active release provider only 12 miles from me. I may have to see if I can get my insurance to cover it, doubtful, I am sure they will just want to give me painkillers and tell me to rest, but if it goes on long enough I will defiantly check it out. Ice I will start ASAP. Thank you all.

                I had terrible tennis elbow. I was having a hard time brushing my hair or shampooing it, and I'd had pain for a really long time. What really helped me was yoga. Things like downward dog. I think it helped me strengthen the muscles and connective tissues without do repetitive exercise. I'm still amazed I hardly ever notice it anymore, as it had been pretty severe and quite chronic. This was long before I ever considered reducing grains, although it was during a time that me diet improved in general, from pure crap to at least CW healthy food.

                I also made a real effort to avoid things that were aggravating it - like carrying around and lifting 64 oz Diet Cokes, and grasping large files with my fingers to pull them out of drawers.
