It makes no sense that she's going to carry around an epi-pen for when she decides to do her workout even though she has forgotten her Benadryl. Going into anaphylaxis and using an epi-pen is a stressful sequence of events, which must be followed by a visit to the hospital.

Me, I'd switch to walking. Hey, I did (though it wasn't exercise allergy).

She really just needs to figure out what else she is allergic to that triggers the anaphylaxis. She said that it's a food or drug that, when combined with exercise, causes anaphylaxis. So if she just eliminated the allergen, she could exercise without suffering an attack.

That makes way too much sense. Like giving up sugar to help your type 2 diabetes. Too much trouble, inject insulin instead.

That is really not so simple to do. It could be anything - someone else passing by wearing perfume, some random plant giving off pollen...and apart from not knowing what causes it or whether you will be exposed to it or not, it would not really be wise to put a possible cause to the test and risk getting an even worse reaction. This is actually life threatening and very scary.

But it doesn't sound like she's planning on giving up exercise. She's just going to carry around an epi-pen when she does exercise. So might as well experiment and see if she can ID the allergen.

I wonder, if it's a food allergy, if it could be as simple as exercising fasted? I wonder how fasted you'd have to be
