        No. the first stage needs to be higher effort for shorter periods.
        It may help but it won't be equivalent to Lyle's protocol.

          Yes. I think Lyle developed it working with female bodybuilder types.
          Mind, it's for fit people fighting the last stubborn fat.
          For fat people its pointless.

              I'll say it again....I maintain a very lean body fat percentage, and I never dream of stepping on a treadmill. I only do anaerobic basketball workouts. I eat strict Keto....meaning 25g carb/80g protein/300g fat per day. I'm as lean as u can be. I won't go into the exact percentage(because the last time I did that, the thread went off on me).....but I have no pinch able body fat. I always say, ur at ur leanest, when u can see the oblique cuts even in ur lower back(as opposed to just from the front or sides). I don't like using body builders as the "standard" for being super lean, because they only get really strict nutritionally 3 months before they do a show(as far as cutting). This is a very unhealthy way to get super lean, as u completely throw ur endocrine system off with this "crash" sort of dieting. I believe u have to maintain something year round(diet wise). So if u want to be leaner.....cut out carbs, and being ur protein under 100g a day, I bet this does the trick.

                TimBumper, I have never seen the body of a person that eats 85% fat year round while exercising, so it would be very interesting in seing a picture of your super lean body! Do it for science and for the history of humanity...

                    I really don't wanna go back through all this again! There is tons of science that says u can thrive in Keto while being fairly active. Look at the work of Stephen Phinney and Jeff Volek....the art of low carbohydrate performance.

                      From what you're saying, keto is working well for you - and I'd be interested to hear more about your experience.

                      But surely you're not suggesting everyone/anyone can do this way of eating and be/become healthy or be/become lean (or both) - or are you saying that?

                        Eh... I realllllly have doubts that someone who claims 3% body fat and yet doesn't post a picture upon demand is really that lean. Probably just wishful thinking...
