  • time?

    I find it so hard to find time to do quality exercise... if I only have 30-40 minutes to spend per day what would the best bang for my buck be? I have a 9 month old recently stop breast feeding...

    Exercise at home, not at a gym. Check out bodyweight exercises to start.

      Sounds perfect for the suggestions in the Primal Blueprint Fitness ebook. Get a pullup bar and try that.

          Resistance training at high intensity 2x/week for 15 minutes.

          Thats about all I do.

            Weight lifting can tire out anyone out in a short amount of time..depends on the amount of reps/sets/weights being used.

              Buy a kettlebell for at-home workouts. Seriously one of the most versatile pieces of gym equipment ever, and compact to boot! Don't know your fitness level but try to start with at least an 18lb one. My gym uses the ones by Rogue Fitness.

                30-40mins is more than enough.
                High intensity weights, use cardio to warm up and down 5 minutes either side of your workout.

                  You only need 15-20 minutes a week with high intensity work. That's all I was doing until I started some challenges this week and even then it's no more than 40 minutes every other day. Obviously there's low intensity to do as well, like walking, gardening, cleaning, whatever.
                  Why use a sledge hammer to crack a nut when a steam roller is even more effective, and, is fun to drive.

                    Thanks I do one very long hike per week -- I have a great home gym -- I know what I need to do.. just find it hard to "just do it". I did competitive power lifting in Uni -- but since having my 3 kids I find it hard to get motivated... I also have a severe bladder incontinence issue since having my last baby -- that makes public exercise difficult..

                      I find it's a lot easier to get myself to "just do it" when I have a plan. Make sure you know what you want to get out of the workout, what exercise you're going to do, and for how many sets / reps--it makes it a lot easier to power through. You might consider laying out a plan at the beginning of the week so you don't have to think about it every day.
