Yikes! Well thats impressive...I have no desire to attempt a lefty ax swing. I'd rather end up unbalanced than in the emergency room

Well, I didn't just go for it. I practiced with a stick, noting my feet and legs, posture and where all my fingers go during the swing. I was surprised at just how much detail goes into a mindless thing like swinging something. Once I mapped out what every bone in my body does on a righty swing, I inverted it and practiced a few swings with a stick until I felt confident. But all the unconscious stabilizer muscle activity, the shifts in balance, must be taken into account! It was several swings before I was assured of the stability of it all, and had the semi-conscious accident-prevention moves worked through. Like, if the ax misses and you naturally hunker down and scootch back to get control of the ax and save your feet, got to work it all out before it happens! Half a lifetime of using heavy tools teaches you to train both sides of the body, because when the right arm gets too sore and starts giving up - but the boss is watching - you have to keep going somehow!
