  • LA Fitness goes Primal?

Hi. I just got this month's newsletter from LA Fitness, with a section on Top Tips to Lose Weight.

Unfortunately I cant link to it, as its in a members' only section, but I'll quote the top 3 tips...
    1. The old belief that weight loss is all about calories in (food) versus calories out (exercise) is being challenged to some degree by the fact that not all calories are the same. Bottom line: ditch processed foods which tend to come in a packet with lots of numbers on it and focus on what are being called real foods like lean meat, nuts, fruit and veg. If your grandmother wouldn’t recognise it, think twice about eating it.

    2. Fat used to be public enemy number one -certain fats are now considered to be essential - now it’s sugar that’s in the spotlight. Soft drinks are right up there in the firing line but frankly anything containing sugar needs to be limited or eliminated.

    3. Portion control is a real issue for many – just the simple act of cutting down how much you eat at each sitting can make a huge difference. One way to do this is eat off smaller plates.

And it goes on with tips about "protein, try to include some with every meal", "good sleep", "drink water", "exercising with challenging weights will build lean tissue and stoke the fat burning fire".

Sounds like they are getting switched on to the Primal way

Oh yes, another quote: "keep moving through the day" pretty much matches Mark's slow frequent movement ethos.

Hardly unique to the primal way of living. In fact, this sounds more like a bodybuilder's guide to healthy living - especially given the part with the portion control.

(Yes, "portion control" is another word for "CICO")
Yeah, my grammar sucks. Deal with it!
