So at my work we have a gym, locker rooms and fitness trainers on site. Every Wed and Fri we have a "running class" at noon which usually on Wed we do hill sprints and Fri we do a "long" run... 3-4 miles through the woods or on a road depending on weather. We ran all winter in the cold.
I personally hate jogging but love sprinting. Problem was I was terrible at both so the class was a godsend. A few of us stuck with it through the winter cold.
Well it paid off today as the guys who took the winter off showed up today for sprints... most of whom used to dust me... not anymore. I took 1st today. (I am paying for it now with rubbery legs)
Granted i've been training and they haven't... but it was still a big win
