  • Running. A 5k Sunday. FOOD!!

Hey guys I'm doing a 5k Sunday. I jog 5mph. What's good to eat before a exercise like that. I can do it now just curious what you guys eat. Thanks again
Started at 307 regular diet and exercise went to 285 and stalled. Went primal and went to 227! I always was a brutish caveman now I eat like one!
    Goal weight.....?

It's a short enough race that you really don't have to eat anything special to prepare for it.

Some days I like to run up to 4 mi. in the morning on an empty stomach. I have found that if I had consumed a little more carbs than usual for me the previous evening (like banana, some other non-starchy fruit or potato) I have more stamina.

I might add potatoes the day before a 5K, but I wouldn't do any special meal plan or anything. Even a 10K isn't long enough to worry that much about diet (so long as you're eating healthy -- I wouldn't stock up on cheeseburgers and pizza for either). A half or full marathon would require some more planning, but I wouldn't worry much about it for just a 5K.

              5k, nothing.

Did a 20k Tough Mudder on a banana and salts.
I didn't like the rules you gave me, so I made some of my own.

+1 with the no special planning for a 5k. Done many many 5ks, one 10k, one 15k, one 10-miler, one 20k and 6 half marathons... 15k and up is where you need to concern yourself with pre-race/in-race nutrition. And for those I would recommend bananas, citrus fruits, berries and nuts.

5k is such a short distance, I don't do anything special diet-wise at all. Running 3 miles on an empty stomach will be fine if you're not hungry, while some people need something like a few spoons of nut butter or an apple. Just listen to your body.

It's not a marathon, so you don't need to do any dietary prep work! Don't worry, and just have fun!

Yeah, this.....I ran one last month and just had a cup of coffee before the race. Guess I was like 16hrs fasted at the time.
