Any recommendations on recovery drink mix for post workout?? The one I've been using for the past couple years is no longer available
It is a chocolate-flavoured protein based one. Also - what should I be looking for in terms of protein/carbs for post-workout recovery?

I really like Primal Fuel, Marks supplement, BCAA's with water, or any protein will recover your muscles. When in doubt, eat lots of grass fed meat and eggs. As far as protein and carbs go, I eat a sweet potato after my heavy lifting days and that's it. Sometimes not even that.

I love coconut water! Great electrolytes and perfect for quick hydration. I don't drink it all the time, only when I'm feeling like crap after a workout. (also amazing hangover cure)

Whey protein is what I try to use most of the time.. I sometimes don't have it handy so I had half a pound of brisket and a pint of potatoe salad after my lifting today. mmmm brisket

I used to use them, but found they were pretty unnecessary. If you want to use one, chocolate milk works great.

I personally just have water, and time my workouts so that I have a meal about 30 mins/an hour after.

I'm new so forgive me but isn't milk a no-no? On the food pyramid I see high-fat dairy, raw and unpasturized. Does everyone just drink raw milk or is regular organic/grassfed whole milk paleo approved?

                  Thanks,

*To me* chocolate milk is more natural than some protein shake, which is milk that is more processed, plus other stuff.

Studies generally show chocolate milk is about as good as it gets for recovery.

Again, I don't think you actually need one, but if you want one, chocolate milk a less processed version of a protein shake that has proven benefits.

Dairy is not on the menu! Well, I'm intolerant and relatively strict...

I use molasses and baking soda after a workout to prevent cramps. And eat lots of extra food on sprint days.
