Fantastic! Count me in! I haven't managed a chin up/pull up in 20 years - and i could only ever do 1!

Just need to clear the junk away from under the bar in the garage and I'm good to go.

Thanks for the inspiration - I had this in the "too old" basket.

little mind tip i taught my GF on pullups:

imagine pulling the bar down towards you as opposed to pulling yourself up towards the bar.....

in other words, think the bar is moving and you are staying still....

its a mind trick that sometimes works (it did with her anyway)

Huh. That's the one I have. Along with a few slightly cracked door frames (at the top corners). It's a handy device to use, but make sure you find a frame that can take the outward-pushing pressure.

Has anyone used the Pull up bar from trapeze rigging(Free-standing Pullup Bars)? I live in a "vintage" apartment and I don't think the door frames can handle the strain. The trapeze rigging one looks good but I have no reference on it. It's that one or this: Stamina 1690 Power Tower

                Any advice?

So much enthusiasm! Great. Welcome to it, everybody! I added all the new sign-ups to the list on page 1.

I'll go through in the next couple days to collect some of the tips into the other parts of page 1 next. I anticipate it'll be tricky knowing what to save!

I'd go with the first. Heard a lot of good feedback about it. It looks very similar to/same as the one Mark uses in his Primal Blueprint fitness videos.

Wish I could get one shipped down here at reasonable cost. :::grumble, grumble:::

Please add me! I've been unsuccessfully trying to do a pull up since 4th grade. Oh, the shame and humiliation of the Presidential Physical Fitness Tests.

Right now, I'm graduated from pull-ups with hanging rings to doing assisted pull ups with resistance bands at my Crossfit box.

Does anyone have one of the Stamina power towers? I like the price.

Sign me up!!! I've been wanting to get to a full chinup for about three years and just never did anything about it consistently. 2012 is the year!

I have a resistance band that I no longer need. PM me if anyone is interested.
It's the 100lb weight resistance one from Amazon. Was $37. I used it only a couple times before I moved down to the 75lb resistance band.
That one will also be decluttered here soon.
