2012 Slow Movement Challenge

  • I'm sitting here listening to the rain which has been forecast as heavy to torrential, with flash flood warnings, for the next few days. Don't think I'll get much walking in. Will just have to make a bigger effort when the sun decides to shine again.
    Original Goal: To lose weight. Achieved in March 2010
    Long Term Goals: To continue using Primal guidlines to improve fitness and health. To share the Primal message.

    • Buzz - if it is not to late to join in, please sign me up. I have been keeping track via iphone app Outfront (mapmytracks) since the 1st and have 5.9 Km racked up so far. As soon as the weather breaks I am going to start walking to work (~5K each way).

      I also do a little thing while at work; work on 3rd floor of a office building, bathroom down the hall. Every time I go to the head, I take the stairs down to 1st, 100 yards to other end of building, then up the other set of stairs to the 3rd. Do my business, rinse and repeat. Started sprinting up the stairs this week and doing 48 flights a day now. I know this should not be counted in the challenge, just passing it on to others chained to a desk.

      Better late then never.... thanks looking forward to this.

            Lost the weight using CW. Now I just want to be healthier.

                Dude! This is pretty much the same thing I do! I work at one end of the building on the 2nd floor. So, I walk all the way down to the other end, down the stairs to the first floor and then back up the stairs to the 2nd floor. I've measured the length of the building and it's 1/8th mile, so if I do one circuit it's 1/4 mile. I try to do this 4 times during the day. And, I think that it should ABSOLUTELY count because it's an intentional effort being made to move slowly. Now, when I walk from place to place as a matter of the course of my work day, I don't count that.

                Also, I have a route outside that I know the distance for (1.6miles) and I walk it almost everyday (unless it's raining hard like today) after lunch. I usually eat at my desk in 1/2 hour, then do the walk in 1/2 hour and take a 1 hour lunch.

                I hadn't thought about sprinting up the stairs, but I'll probably add that in, too.

                        • Added another 1.6 last night. Keeping tally in my sig now. Trying to figure out the BBcode to update automatically from MapMyTracks.

                          We could share MapMyTracks user names here also, if you are using the app. Works very well on the iphone.

                          This is my information if anyone is interested....

                          Just a thought, but there I go thinking again.
