  • OMG, y'all! Who pays for my new clothes?

As I haven't begun a journal, this is going to have to suffice.

When I began Primal on August 22nd, I weighed in at 218 pounds, and even my size 40 waist pants were beginning to get a little snug. Was not liking that at all. Here is a photo of my wife and I taken on August 15th. See that spare tire?? Of course you do .. can't miss it! Conversely, my wife (who is 60) has been a chronic cardio person for as long as I've known her (28 years). But, as you can see, she's in great shape.

So my clothes have been more than a little loose-fitting for the last week, so I decide to go try on some new clothes today, and guess what?!?!? I have gone from an XL shirt to a Medium, and I can now fit comfortably into size 36 jeans! I am utterly ecstatic! How ecstatic? Look at this shot from today (9/14)!

The jeans I have on in this photo are size 38, but as you can see, they are drooping. But I was so impressed with how my body has transformed in such a short period of time, that I couldn't help but whip out the iPhone for a quick snapshot. Bottom line is that I am going to need some new clothes. So Mark, if you're listening, I could use a few hundred bucks for a new wardrobe!!

Now, I ask you ... do I look like a 56 year old quadruple bypass survivor? Well, maybe I look 56, but I don't think anyone would guess regarding my surgery if I my scar was covered.

I could not be happier! Thank you, Mark Sisson! Y'all Grok On!

You look great! You're about my dad's age, I wish he was in as good a shape as you are (haven't figured out the best way to introduce a primal way of eating to him yet).

Well, it's just sticking to the plan. I fully expect a plateau any day now ... I will just have to work harder/smarter. :-)

Thanks much! Show him my photos ... and tell him that I had bypass surgery at age 50, at which point, I stopped smoking after 32 years. Just wish I had known about Primal/Paleo back then. Would have made things so much easier.

There is life after 50 ... I just hope there is a lot more of it! <grin>

The hair and eyeglasses gives it away. LOL! I've often been asked if I am a TV preacher because of my hair.

But I am enjoying the wave right now ... I'm sure I'll hit a wall at some point, but sure would like to get below 200 first. :-) But the one thing I am thrilled about more than anything is that I am seeing a faint hint of my abs ... something I have never seen in my lifetime!

Biggest downside of going Primal! ($$$ clothing costs)

You don't have a lot more to lose, Bama, but for those that do, I'd advise just buying used because you won't be wearing them for long.

                      P.S. You look GREAT!

BTW, who can tell me how to email Mark? I'd like to tell him my story so far. I wonder how many coronary bypass survivors are on TPB?

BTW, I celebrate my 6th 're-birthday' this Friday.

You need a new really cool pair of glasses and haircut to go with the new bod. I used to be a hairdresser so please forgive the suggestion, but here is a look I think would be perfect for you...Radney Foster "Revival" Album Release Party - Pictures - Zimbio

Well, my intermediate goal is 200 lbs .. would like to see that in another 4 weeks or so. Ultimately, I would like to be a very lean 190. I've still got too much jiggly stuff around my midsection, but very happy with the direction I am headed.

My parents both died of cancer before their 66th birthday, two years apart. It may be too late for me to stem the tide, but I'm not giving up without a fight. I did have a great-grandmother that lived to be 102 ... wanna guess what her diet was like? Yep, you guessed it ... pretty close to Primal, I'd bet.

Thanks, Tiger Lily! The compliments really help keep me motivated!! :-)
