  • Question about moving at a slow pace...

Hello everyone. I'm just starting to get on the bandwagon and trying to live more primal. I had a question about my fitness, though. I work on a loading dock where I am on my feet for 9 or so hours a day. At least six of that is walking from one tractor trailer to another and the rest of the time I spend on a stand-up forklift. In your opinion(s), would that count towards the 3-5 hours of moving at a slow pace that Mark recommends? Any thoughts or answers are welcome. Thanks! - James

The person to answer this for you would be RitaRose. Definitely qualifies for moving at a slow pace, or based on quantity, almost like chronic cardio.

Yes, I think so. You wouldn't need any additional walking in your weekly schedule, but heavy lifting would probably benefit you.

Chronic Cardio typically means that the individual has elevated their heartrate above 75% of their maximum (no longer a slow pace) and maintained it there for greater than about 45 minutes, multiple times per week (chronic). Walking and standing all day should not in any way be considered cardio, simply moving slowly.

Thanks everyone for your input. I have been wondering about this for a couple weeks now and am thankful I can put that concern to rest. Now I have more time for LHT and sprinting. Giddy-up!
