Attention bodyweight enthusiasts - Rob Drucker just posted the first official review of Convict Conditioning 2, which will be released later this fall. I really love the cover!

Gah, but I'm only "a quarter" of the way through the first one! Looking forward to it, though. I've been getting some pretty damn good results from the CC so far, and would recommend it to anyone. If nothing else, Wade writes in a way that gets you excited to do some of this stuff.

    Thanks for the link!

I, too, have been getting great results from the original, and often recommend it both here and in real life.

Wait... Is that you on the cover, Al? I saw you in some of the other pictures in that review...
I'm excited about this- I'm finding that my weak forearms seem to be holding back my pullups and handstand pushup progressions.

Please let us know when it gets released!

Al, are you familiar with "Your Body is Your Own Gym" by Mark Lauren? And, if so, do you have any opinions about it?

Yes - I have heard good things about Mark Lauren's book (though I haven't read it myself). I believe the title is You Are Your Own Gym. From what I know about Mark, he seems like the real deal.

As opposed to the speculation on Paul Wade. Hahahahhaha!

Seriously though, never heard of the books until last night and went crazy reading all the stuff on-line I could find. Buying #1 tonight and #2 as soon as it comes out. 'Paul Wade' could be a 90 year old grandmother in Flagstaff for all I care. Everything I've seen tells me that book has a great system.
Trying a journal. We'll see how long that lasts....

I quit the weight game about a year ago (at age 39). I'd been a gym rat since my freshman year of high school. I started Mark Lauren's book and CC at the same time. The four day a week routines in YAYOG (You Are Your Own Gym) paired nicely with the 2 day a week "New Blood" routine from CC. YAYOG is great all around fitness (e.g. strength, endurance, cardio, balance and flexibility all rolled masterfully into one complete program). I use CC more for the development of brute strength and it's worked very well in that regards. If you were to do CC exclusively, I would highly recommend getting in your 2-5 hours a week of moving slowly (per Primal Blueprint) and a weekly sprint (also per Primal Blueprint).

I'd heard of them before, but hadn't read the reviews. After reading them yesterday I'm hanging out for some money in the next few weeks to buy the first book. Will probably get Al's book at the same time.

Haha - I agree! Whoever is writing the CC books is a great fitness writer regardless of the validity of the story, although I'm inclined to just accept it at face value. Conspiracy theories are much more fun when they are about governmental cover-ups anyway.
