Orthopedic doctor should be your first step. If you are in constant pain, it's probably a big deal. If you were just in pain during certain activities, you could maaaybe put it off. But horrible pain all the time is pretty serious. When you rest on the weekends, are you sitting or lying down? Have you tried ice or heat therapy?
Your doctor might be able to sign off on some temporary disability paperwork for your work. If you are lucky enough to have such a benefit, that is. Either way, go to a doctor instead of asking strangers online to fix your back!! :P

Get thee to a GOOD chiropractor - preferably a graduate of Western States Chiropractic College or Texas Chiropractic College if you can find one. They are in my opinion the top science based colleges and most likely not to produce doctors that will rip you off with scam treatments. I have had major issues with the SI joint and my chiros have been indispensable to me being pain free and mobile.
Can't say enough for my chiro. He's the one that got me started on my weight loss journey. First recommendation: Stop consuming dairy, cuz it's EVIL! He's riiii-iiight. He's from Texas, so I dunno if he went to the schools Mac is talking about, but I luvs him. He does body energy & everything. He can cure vertigo bouts (which I get kinda regularly), and make super bad moods turn happy.
It's a long story, but what pertains to this discussion is that I had constant sacrum and R sacroiliac pain for three years. Constantly red hot to the touch and I could only bear the slightest touch. Six weeks of 2x weekly atlas orthogonal chiropractic, and that pain is gone.
ETA: It's soooo important to keep your body as un-inflamed as you possibly can right now.
