  • No weight room? Aaah, I'm lost!

Anyone want to give me something fun and challenging?

Normally I lift weights in the gym. But my membership just ran out and I'm returning to America in a few weeks, so no sense in renewing it.

At my flat I have a TRX and a Swiss ball. I'm trying hard to get back into shape after losing a lot of strength and conditioning. But I never did much in way of bodyweight/suspension trainer workouts. I thought it would also be a fun way to shake things up and get me reenergized about working out. Even though I like lifting weights, I've had serious motivation problems lately.

Anyone want to hit me up? I am a doll in your hands!

Stand on the ball. Bonus points if you live.

Would you like a list of bodyweight exercises?

              Good!

Push ups: wide, narrow, diamond, hindu, jack knife, weighted, one armed, handstand, one arm handstand, planche
Dips: on bench, on parallel bars, weighted
Planks: front, side, superman, human flag, dragon flag
              Squats: regular, pistol, shrimp, weighted
Pullups: regular, towel, muscle-ups, chin-ups, mixed grip varieties, one-armed varieties, weighted
Walks/crawls: bear crawl, crab walk, leave your lower body limp and drag yourself across the ground using your hands/arms (I don't know what that's called)
Misc: Hang from a bar for as long as you can, jump as high as you can over and over until you can't jump anymore, jump as far as you can over and over until you can't jump anymore, L-sits, frog stands, pec flys with gymnast rings, go back and forth on the damn monkeybars!
Isometrics: Pit one limb against the other in a struggle for dominance! Keep core tight!

That there is one really incomplete list of bodyweight exercises. There are many more exercises that you don't need a gym for than ones that you do need a gym for.
You lousy kids! Get off my savannah!

Baby if you time travel back far enough you can avoid that work because the dust won't be there. You're too pretty to be working that hard.

I think the moral of this thread is use your body-weight.

I will add some isometrics because i think theyre a fun addition and are very strength oriented: OH press in a doorway, chest press 1 arm at a time in a doorway, neck exercises (pulling or pushing your head in every direction with your hands while resisting). With a towel you can mimic bent over rows, deadlifts, bicep curls, various movements that might not have names. Do 3 second maximal contractions at several parts of the ROM (for example for chest press you would have arm close to your side, arm fully extended, and a midway position), and you can vary the angle aswell.

Oooh! I like those. I did one of those one time and broke some walls.

Buddy of mine just gave me this one:
                              1. Find a bench or low wall and stand with it to one side.
                              2. Squat jump up on to the wall
                              3. Jump back down
                              4. Do a burpee
                              5. Alternate sides
                              6. Repeat until you barf
For variation, you can face the wall and jump up on it and alternate the direction of the burpees.

Puke on the other side of the wall.
