  • Thigh toning exercises?

I'm a newbie and I'm wondering if there are any workouts/exercises to tone my thighs. I have about 20 pounds to lose and I'm sure primal eating will help, but when I wear skirts my thighs rub together. If it's hot out then my inner thighs get irritated, I'd like to change this.

Is sprinting my best bet? Are there any particular workouts that will help with this problem?

    Thanks so much!

If your thighs get irritated, then spread them so they can get irrigated.
In all of the universe there is only one person with your exact charateristics. Just like there is only one person with everybody else's characteristics. Effectively, your uniqueness makes you pretty average.

        1. You can't spot reduce.

        2. There is no such thing as toning. Only more muscle/less muscle and more fat/less fat.

        3. Squat.

        4. Sprints are part of a good workout routine regardless.

        5. Thighs are the place where most people (particularly females) retain fat when they are eating bad foods. So start eating clean if you are not already. Also, if you can't handle dairy then it'll probably end up as fat deposits in the thighs.

I was waiting for someone to make a comment like that

Edited to add *rolls eyes* plus I'm married so my thighs get plenty of irrigation. Perhaps yours don't

+1. And some women have a tendency to store fat there regardless of how they eat, what they eat, what they weigh and their body composition. I know, I'm one of them. The only things that do help in a way are body weight and composition but if you have a tendency towards plump inner thighs then that's the hand that Nature's dealt you. I've never had any male complaints about them though .

Welcometogoodburger and Bushrat thanks for the squat suggestions!

BushRat thanks so much for your detailed response! It's good to know that you can't tone or target areas (yay misleading conventional wisdom). I am definitely gonna try to stay on track more and listen to my body (reactions to foods)

Thanks Reilly, I wouldn't mind having plump inner thighs if it weren't for the discomfort. I have to wear form fitting shorts under skirts because if I sweat I get chaffing almost like a rug burn in my thighs=OWW!

I'm going to try reducing daily, eating clean and squats- well attempt to do squats without falling backwards anyway lol

Make sure you go as low as you can. You may also need to stretch if you've never done it before because chairs ruin posture and weaken your leg muscles. Practice sitting in the third world squat too.

also look up sumo deadlifts. they'll work your adductors (the groin muscles on the inner thigh). Awesome lift.

Sumo deadlifts sounds very intimidating but I will look them up. Thanks Abu

Lunges and squats have worked for me. You`ll have beautiful visible muscles after the fat gets burned away from clean eating.
