  • For Those Who Want Vibram 5-Fingers Shoes On A Budget...

I have wanted a pair of vibrams for a long while now... but $100+ bucks for a pair of shoes that I must order online and can't try on in a store ahead of time... yeesh... I just don't have the disposable cash...

Well yesterday I found a pear of 4-finger shoes just like the Vibram's at JCPenney. They are four finger, not five (the last two are connected). They feel amazing! And best of all I walked out fo JCPenney having tried them on and got the perfect size for only $52 (they were 10 bucks off!).

They can be purchased online: JCPenney : Fila® SKELE-TOES Men's Shoe

But to me the big deal was in actually trying them on. With shoes I wear a size 13... sometimes a 12... but with these I wore a size 11. I got blue but sears have blue and black in stock. The lady told me I was the first person to even try them on let alone purchase them!

    Here's a pic of mine : http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/9949/oihk.jpg

I hear these are great. And I bet keeping the last two toes together helps protect the little toe from getting yanked by a branch caught between the toes while running in the woods, and broken.... (I speak from yanksperience)

Probably... I've been wearing them all day and I love them!

Thanks for posting this. The only-online thing, and being unable to try them on, was a huge reason that I haven't gotten a pair of Vibrams. I'll be checking these out soon.

I tried a pair of skeletoes on the other day, and I didn't much care for them. They have a very stiff sole, and WAY too much arch support for my tastes. Not a fan. But they are half the price.. so...

They have them in kids sizes too. My 12 and 10 year olds rolled their eyes when I told them that they were getting them, now they wear them all the time.

I came up with 4 w/in 25 miles of Albany/Rensselaer/Troy NY areas and 7 locations w/in the same radius of Columbus, OH straight off Vibram's website.

There are several brick-and-mortar authorized Vibram dealers where I am -- REI, Sun & Ski Sports, Whole Earth Provisions, Luke's Locker, Fleet Feet...

Not a knock on the Skelet-toes. I'm looking at them as well for myself and my nephew who loves my VFFs and "wishes they made them for kids," but where is the only online thing coming from regarding Vibrams?

There are supposedly lots of Vibram dealers around here, too. Then you get there and they're completely out of stock or have nothing in your size, etc. etc. ... we ended up having to order ours and hoping for the best.

They made Vibram Five Fingers for kids... now whether you want to spend the money on something that will be outgrown in a year...

Dude, they make you look like a fish, LOL. I love it! I bet they'll raise even more questions than a pair of vibrams.

I saw some new Vibram's on ebay fo $69.99 w/free shipping. I'm thinking about going into a shoe store to try some on and then order the size online. I am going to check out the skeleshoes also...thanks for the tip!

Kohl's department stores carry them as well (if you have one near you). Since they always have some sort of sales going on, I walked out with a pair for about $32 including tax. I agree, they can be stiff, but the price was right.

Between the two, VFFs are more worth the money, in my opinion. They breathe, which cuts down on foot funk. That and to me Skeletoes look god awful ugly- lol. But they are cheaper. Just be prepared for sweaty feet.

... huh, you think Vibrams breathe? The foot funk seems pretty damn powerful to me. How would the Skeletoes be significantly different than the equivalent-height VFFs?

I think it depends on which VFFs too. My KSOs, Bikilas (especially) and Sprints are downright airy compared to the Flows. Skeletoes seem most similar to flows. I like my flows in winter, but I couldn't imagine wearing them above 45 degrees.
