  • alternatives to chuck taylors?

don't get me wrong, i love my chucks, but my toes have spread out a bit in the last 18 months or so that i've been wearing them (and working out barefoot). now i'm starting to get callouses on my pinky toes. i went up a size, but chucks are just so narrow it doesn't seem to help.

can anyone recommend some nice, flat shoes, with a roomier toe box? difficulty: not going for the vibrams just yet, i need something i can wear to work.

    thanks!

Terra Plana has some nice looking stuff in their barefoot line that would be work appropriate. I haven't tried a pair myself, but a couple of the guys at my gym are into them.

I was gonna say water shoes, but primalrob beat me to it.

I've been running in vans for a while. They are similar to chucks in their simplicity, but are cut a bit wider.

              merrell's new barefoot line

merrell's tend to fit wider in the toe box and the new shoes have thin vibram soles similar to the five fingers

I have a brown pair of these that I just ripped the soles out of. I love them.

New Balance is pretty good about producing wide sizes. I'm buying mine in a 5E right now. (577's, discontinued but I bought 13 pairs) Other models go at least to a 6E.
