  • Cardio, winter and asthma

With it being winter and I know I should be doing cardio but I was wondering if I should take a walk outside or do my Walk Away the Pounds dvd that I have. I'm asthmatic so walking outside in the winter months when it gets really cold like this kills me. Any suggestions?

Get outside! Just be sure to bring your inhaler.

I cleared my life-long asthma with EFT. And if you are going to follow Al's suggestion, then use your inhaler before you go outside to prevent an attack from happening.

I can use my inhaler before, during and after a workout outside and it doesn't do me any good. Considering that I don't have insurance right now, I'm not too sure what to do. I do drink coffee as well to help with any flare up.

How's your Vitamin D level? It has been shown to help reduce asthma symptoms.

Vitamin D is probably shitty considering I live in OH, the land of grey skies in winter and I really don't go outside much in summer due to allergies. I do take Vit D when I remember to take it. Whats the deal with EFT? I've tried it for allergies and it does seem to help. Also, I'm screwed when we do get insurance as I have to find a new doctor. Old doc moved to PA.

Best to start taking 5,000-6,000 IUs of oil-based D3 daily, if you want to reduce your overall inflammation level. I haven't seen a doctor in over 3 years--finding nutrition, exercise and EFT to be my best friends health-wise.

Do some tapping on your asthma body symptoms before you exert yourself (inside) and see what happens. If you need more ideas, go to the website link I posted and do a search for asthma. Or find a practitioner. (I am one of many who work over the phone and Skype.)

Dragonfly, do you know of any stores that sells oil-based D3? Never seen it before.

www.iherb.com has the best prices (see link in my signature line...) I like Carlson's Solar D Gems (fish oil base), NOW brand is cheaper--look for the one in an olive oil base...they are gel caps.

What about a balaclava? I find that helps me breathe easier when I'm outside in cold, dry air.

No amount of "wrapping up" ever helped me when I had asthma.

I don't like any part of my head/face covered period. I get claustrophobic and feel like I'm going to die. My mom used to tell me I was like that even as a baby.

Ah, that makes sense. Can you do any walking at all outside? Maybe try going outside and just walking around for as long as you can and build up from there. Or you can try mall-walking. Some malls open early for walkers even on weekdays.

I live 30 miles from the closest mall and there are none near my work except for an outdoors mall. I can do some walking outside problem is getting my arse out of bed. I know I need to but dammit, I just don't want to. I've tried doing sprints and that's even worse for me. I need to start making myself get out of bed. Maybe I should move to Hawaii?
