    How Primal are you: Just starting...hoping to at least stay 80% working my way up to 100%

    Do you consume dairy: Yes...love it

    Do you drink coffee or tea: both...love coffee and tea

    Motivator for switching to Primal: After 2.5 years giving birth to my last, I'm still stuck in a very unhealthy weight. I'm 5'2 and stopped looking when the scale hit 220 lbs. I'm currently at 170 lbs and it's not moving. My friend, Tara, introduced me to PB and she looks marvelous!

    Favorite exercise: I'm a lover of walking and running

    Favorite Primal food: Meat

    Best part about being Primal: Eating meat and butter

    Worst part about being Primal: Giving up rice (I'm half Asian...it's been a staple my entire life. I'm still scared to tell my mom that I've given up rice)

      Motivator for switching to Primal:I've noticed as I get older every time I go on a carb binge i get really sick and really tired. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!

      Favorite exercise: Yoga, walking, outrigger paddling, surfing

      Favorite Primal food: Ribeye steak!

      Best part about being Primal: I love meat.

      Worst part about being Primal: I love chocolate and all things deep fried. Which makes me sick but tastes so good.

        How Primal are you: fairly primal. I'm just getting started so I've cut out all grains but I'm still eating dairy. I'm a cheese fanatic.

        Do you consume dairy: yes; cream, butter, raw milk (goat and cow), homemade cheese, yoghurt, etc.

        Do you drink coffee or tea: yes, I used to drink primarily coffee, but I find myself reaching for herbal tea now.

        Motivator for switching to Primal: My husband and I are planning on starting a family in a year or so and I want to get to a healthier weight. My body couldn't handle an extra 30lbs on top of the 250 it already lugs around.

        Favorite exercise: swimming, kettlebells, dancing, chasing runaway chickens

        Favorite Primal food: bacon and butter :-)

        Best part about being Primal: meat, obviously. especially trying new meats and offal. I also have expanded my backyard poultry collection so fresh fowl is always on the menu :-)

        Worst part about being Primal: For me, I have to get used to eating veg. I didn't grow up in a family that ate a lot of veg, we pretty much stuck to potatoes, green beans and corn. Now that I'm an adult I find that I have to work to develop a taste for veg otherwise I'd be living on fruit and pig products and that's not good.

          Age (If you want): 26

          How Primal are you: I've been Primal for two months now. I had one slip up with pumpkin pie right after Thanksgiving (oops), and I can't always control the oils my food is cooked with when I'm on the road (every weekend), but I stick to eating and exercising primally every day.

          Do you consume dairy: No. I'm lactose intolerant, and feel lucky for it!

          Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes. I love coffee, but I drink the odd cup of tea.

          Motivator for switching to Primal: I play music for a living and my diet has always been horrible. My brother can eat whatever he wants and stay incredibly lean, but I've always struggled with my weight. I had a busy schedule in October and was out on the road for the entire month and ate horribly the entire time. Basically we had fast food at least once a day (sometimes twice) and when we actually sat down for a meal, I chose the complete wrong items even though I knew better. I was halfway Primal back in April and saw great results, but I got off track after the flood. I had the knowledge, and I felt like crap from the month of travel, so on the 31st of October I fasted, and I officially started living the primal lifestyle on the 1st of November.

          Favorite exercise: I love to chop wood. We had a few tree limbs that fell in the yard awhile back and broke out the axe instead of the chain saw. Now I chop wood whenever I get the chance. I also love taking my roommate's dog on longs hike through the woods because she likes to sprint up the hills, dragging me behind.

          Favorite Primal food: Everything really. I love to grill any kind of meat and do every day I'm home. As for vegetables, I'm a huge fan of spinach, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and bell peppers.

          Best part about being Primal: Love the food. I have never once felt like my diet is restricted in any way. Second: Results! I'm 5'11" and started at 200 lbs, and this morning I weighed myself and I was 180 lbs! I don't have I scale at home so I don't weigh myself often, and I'm trying not to focus on a goal weight, but the lightest I've ever been since grade school was 172 lbs, but I was poor and barely eating, not exercising, and smoking. I hope to get there again eating primal like crazy along with building lean muscle and staying active.

          Worst part about being Primal: People don't always understand why I'm doing this, and a few people think it isn't healthy or not sustainable. I have also had a few guilt trips run on me after turning down freshly baked desserts and that is a little bit annoying, but I'll be alright.

            Motivator for switching to Primal: Last time that I lost 40 pounds, the majority of it was done by eating primal, but not knowing it. I've been reading MDA for years, and it seems like it's time to finally join in, and get things done!

            Favorite exercise: Walking, Yoga, Skiing

            Favorite Primal food: I'd say steak, but the pork tenderloin that I'm cooking right now might beat it out.

            Best part about being Primal: I love meat and veggies, and carbs have always caused a negative response for me.

            Worst part about being Primal: Explaining to people what it means to make a conscious choice not to eat refined sugar or grains. It's not hard people!

              Favorite Primal food: Steak, eggs, salads with bacon.

              Best part about being Primal: Not having the frequent digestive issues I had before.

              Worst part about being Primal: Saying no to dessert - has been tough for me. Instead of eliminating it completely, I've been having a small piece of dark chocolate almond bark as a subsitute for now. Still working on this!

                Age (If you want): 30 in 13 days!!!

                How Primal are you: Day 2. I've been flirting with it for a long time and was going to start on January 1st, then realized I am so tired of looking and feeling this way that something had to change. So far so good though.

                Do you consume dairy: I love cheese. Cheese is the best stuff ever. I also have a fondness for whole milk, although I don't drink it very often since I am rocking my lactose intolerance. But cheese? Mmmmm. And butter? YUM!!!! Only whole fat dairy for me.

                Do you drink coffee or tea: I drink decaf coffee. Once I discovered caffeine was a HUGE trigger for my migraines, my life was much much better. So, I'll have a cup or two of decaf every day. And I love tea. And I love cream in my coffee as well.

                Motivator(s) for switching to Primal: Family history of diabetes. Tired of the fluffiness around my middle. Tired of being tired. Tired of migraines- less since dropping caffeine, but still show up now and then. Tired of having all these cute little clothes in my closet that I can't wear any more due to fluffiness. Don't like being sick. Trying to start a family and have a feeling my level of (un)health is a factor.

                Favorite exercise: Due to my earlier flirtations with PB, I have a tire and sledgehammer that I was having a ball with. Although, now that I have my zippy little zip dogs, doing sprints is delightful. If you need a sprint motivator, get an Italian Greyhound. DARLING little creatures. And quick as the wind. And a delight to run behind. Plus, since they're sprinters, once you're home and done, they crash out and sleep. anyway

                Favorite Primal food: wow. Bacon. Wild salmon. No oatmeal. Hard boiled eggs. It's hard to choose. Too much good stuff.

                Best part about being Primal: Exercise is fun. It's games, it's hiking, it's running behind tiny dogs that move like the wind. Food is delicious. It isn't choking down a nasty bowl of gloppy oatmeal. It's steak and chicken and broccoli and salads with zazzle. Oh, and I absolutely LOVE my vibrams.

                Worst part about being Primal: My mean husband ate a sugar cookie in front of me yesterday going OMG THIS IS SOOOOO GOOD. Then he admitted that it wasn't actually that delicious after. I love baking. I love making cakes and decorating them. I love playing with different flavors and textures and layers. So.... I don't know what I'll do to fill that gap. AND this sugar flu is making me crazy. I feel kind of gross and my head hurts. I guess I eat, I mean, ate, more sugar than I realized. Anyway. I am fighting the good "but I wanna go eat some doritos with a soda" fight.

                • Hi, I am new here but not new to Primal / Paleo. I started in 2006 after reading The Paleo Diet. But in the past few days I have just read most of the Primal Blueprint.

                  I am in Southern California. I am 59 years old.

                  How Primal? Now about 90%. I still love a Starbucks Grande Latte. I have started making them at home now with less milk.

                  As for dairy. I have cheese as a quick snack at times. Cheese, though not really paleo / Primal seems to be a perfect snack. High protien, moderate to high fat and no carbs and doesn't require any preparation. I don't drink liquid milk, but do sometimes have Yogurt or Kefir.

                  Motivator for switching to Primal: Well for one thing. Although the high carb low fat diet did significantly lower my cholesterol (from 220, LDL 140 to 160, LDL 90), it was literally driving me crazy. Yep, I had terrible mood swings. Heck, I might of lived to be 90 on the low fat diet if a co-worker or a neighbor didn't shoot me! A co-worker actually suggested I get on Zoloft. Now on Primal I am a much calmer person.

                  Also on high carb low fat I had high triglycerides, high fasting glucose, developed a cataract in each eye by age 49 (cataracts were very unusual in people younger than 70 30 years ago, now they are very common as young as 35) and I also was placed on Prilosec for acid reflux.

                  Favorite exercise: Unfortunately that is one part of my life I need to fix. Currently it is a thumb workout (on the TV remote)

                  Favorite Primal food: Nothing Primal I don't like.

                  Worst part about being Primal: When people give you homemade jelly or jam for Christmas and they ask you how you like it. You tell them you haven't eaten bread in months and you will try it the next time you eat bread and they look at you like you are from Mars (or Venus).

                    Age (If you want): 43 Years Old, Male, Powerful, hairy chested proto-caveman. (I feel better than 23 since going primal. Maybe we should list our age as changed by going Primal: 23P = 43).

                    How Primal are you: 90/10; 95/5? Something like that. Been eating Primal since 3/2010

                    Do you consume dairy: No. Nasty, mucus producing crap. Cows milk is for baby cows. If you are a baby cow, go ahead and drink the milk, otherwise leave it alone. I make an exception for butter...umm butter.

                    Do you drink coffee or tea: Tea and in quantity (was a massive coffee addict).

                    Motivator for switching to Primal: Heard about Mark Sisson through P90X, looked up the blog/read the book and it made total sense. Tried it and loved it.

                    Favorite exercise: Pull Ups. Awesome, super good exercise.

                    Favorite Primal food: Bison/Buffalo = Heaven on a plate.

                    Best part about being Primal: How I look, feel, perform.

                    Worst part about being Primal: Occaisional cravings for nasty crap food (especially bread and butter). This is usually quickly cured by having the nasty crap food.

                      How Primal are you: Doing it pretty strict. Have already cut out all grains, cereals, and dairy.

                      Do you consume dairy: No... a tough one, but have to see how I am without it.

                      Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes.

                      Motivator for switching to Primal: Health primarily. I have a few things I just chalked up to old age, etc., but I am hoping I can change that.

                      Favorite Primal food: Steak

                      Have done Atkins in the past, and I felt a lot better when I was on it, but I kinda lost it and fell back on old ways. Tried to get back on track, but couldn't manage it. It was a challenge for me the first time. I love a good challenge to keep me focused, but going around the second time I tried to move forward into a later phase and it wasn't the same. The foods didn't cause the same reaction and it was a huge demotivator. Guess I need a new challenge. This certainly fits the bill. Just trying to decide/acquire on my next meal makes me feel like Grok trying to hunt, although I have to admit modern technology seems to take a lot of the physical work out of it.

                      My biggest peeve is I seem lost everyday in a world dedicated to everything I have decided to leave behind. Wherever there is a product with breading, made of flour, or loaded with sweeteners it's like a part of the world just disappears. It's part of some other world, one I used to inhabit, but don't dare to return to. I don't even want to actually. Like walking through the ruins of "civilization" in a kind of Mad Max post-apocalyptic world. You kind of gaze in wonder at what people used to eat for food. Still do. That realization shocks you, and then it seems like a bit like The Prisoner series. I would explain, but I'm rambling as it is and fans of the show will hopefully catch my meaning anyhow.

                      Anyway. Great to be here, and I hope I have much more to report in a month.

                      • New to Primal and loving it

                        Your location: Adelaide Australia

                        Age (If you want): 30

                        How Primal are you: Mostly in terms of diet, I only eat grains when I go to friend for meals but only partial in terms of fitness. I lift weights at the gym 3-4 times a week, run 1-2 times a week( 1 sprint session). Next year I want to introduce a lot more moderate activity, like riding to work.

                        Do you consume dairy: Yes, main milk in my shakes and coffee

                        Do you drink coffee or tea: one coffee a day and 1 tea a day

                        Motivator for switching to Primal: Get healthy for my 30th Birthday, and I have never felt better.

                        Favorite exercise: Pull ups, I started at 1 and I can now do 8.

                        Favorite Primal food: meatballs

                        Best part about being Primal: I don't crave food and I never feel hungry, seeing my body change.

                        Worst part about being Primal: Trying to explain to others why I don't eat the things I used to.

                              Motivator for switching to Primal: I want the digestion problems to end and don't want to have to go to the doc for it...I am not too fond of doctor's it seems all they want to do is diagnose something and give you a prescription!
