    Motivator for switching to Primal: It's a lifestyle that is based on logic and not bad science.

    Favorite exercise: Mountain biking or skiing

    Favorite Primal food: Beef or bacon

    Best part about being Primal: Scaring the people of Boston with my Vibram Five Fingers and/or getting laughed at by the 40 year old over weight diabetics at work for eating my fat when they're pounding down York peppermint patties.

    Worst part about being Primal: The fact that I have to feel hugely guilty about going to the North End in Boston and downing all the bread and cheesecake I can find. It does help that I usually get veal and that bread is going down with just as much olive oil....

    I saw some Boston folks above me; it is good to know I'm not the only one who gets stared and for doing pull ups and plyos on a playground on Columbus Ave!

    If anyone in Boston or Mass in general wants to get together for some good primal activities, I could use some allies!

      Do you consume dairy: No, but I'm re-thinking the occasional cheese and yogurt based on Marks advice (bacterial good guys).

      Motivator for switching to Primal: It just makes sense to live the way your genes evolved.

      Favorite exercise: Kettlebells, P90X(+), Pilates.

      Favorite Primal food: Meat

      Best part about being Primal: Being confident I'm doing the right things for my health.

      Worst part about being Primal: Everyone I know thinks I'm a nut.

      Primal Goal: I have been on high blood pressure medication for the last 5 years. I have reduced my medication by %50 on the Paleo Diet, and hope to eliminate it on the PB.

        Motivator for switching to Primal: Plateaus with CW.

        Favorite exercise: Sprints through the woods.

        Favorite Primal food: Broccoli fried chicken with chilli and ginger. (my own concoction).

        Best part about being Primal: Being able to climb random trees when the urge takes me. Feeling slightly about the average person when my friends eat take out and i'm munching on an apple!

        Worst part about being Primal: My mother makes the best coffe and walnut cake, and I do miss it! I'm trying to convince myself that it has walnuts in it, so at least thats something good. But, it is cake!

          Welcome Me!

          Formerly 247lbs. Found P90X did that, loved it. Still going yet looking for more natural fitness. Began looking into why my diet won't get me to a lesser weight faster with all the exercise I've been doing. Now 200lbs. Bought the book. On page 101. Love it so far. Eating primal for almost a month now (started before I got the book) and trying to embrace everything that I was programmed to eat per AMA and AHA. Here goes.

            How Primal are you: I would like to say 98%, but I am sooooooo very broke right now, that I cannot afford ANY organic and/ or grass-fed items :-( But when I have money, I do! ;-)

            Do you consume dairy?: I love it, but I'm trying to lose weight right now, so I only have a sip of milk (I usually buy raw milk...or, try to if I have $). I LOVE Greek Yogurt though (drooooooool).

            Do you drink coffee or tea?: I like tea and sometimes coffee. My problem is that beyond water, these are my two 'treats' since I love them to be decked out with tons of sweetener and cream - and commercial coffees do NOT provide you with the good sweetener OR cream! :-(

            Motivator for switching to Primal: Lose weight AND feel better. I always searched for a healthier 'me' and when I kept plateauing on my weight-loss AND still had digestive issues, acne, lack of energy, eczema, tendinitis, etc, I KNEW I was missing the point SOMEWHERE (even though I ALREADY cut out all processed foods, ate organic foods & raw dairy).

            Favorite exercise: That's a tough one. Playing. Playing Volleyball, or any other sport with good friends, etc. If it's in the gym, it's working my arms and a good sprint on the treadmill.

            Favorite Primal food: Bison, FAT, oh heck, I'm falling in love with my food all over again. What DON'T I like in my Primal fridge??? ;-)

            Best part about being Primal: Losing weight, feeling stronger than ever before (upped my weights nearly 15 lbs in 2 weeks!!!!!!!), but mostly I am not as tired or moody (my female cycle came without ANY bad cramping or mood swings!!!!!!), my tendinitis vanished, my acne disappeared and my eczema is MIA!!!

            Worst part about being Primal: Eating out (even though I still just order a blue-cheese buffalo burger, pick off the onion ring & bun and munch away!). But I really hate that I have found something TREMENDOUS and even those who ask me "Wow! You look great! How'd you do it?" and I tell them, they do not apply it, they just 'chalk' it up to something that ONLY works for me and move on. Even though they are unhealthy and severely overweight :-( I wish I could help so many people, knowing what I know now!!!

              How Primal are you: 95% nutrition; 5% excercise

              Do you consume dairy: very very rarely; and small amounts of skim milk when I do.

              Do you drink coffee or tea: tea

              Motivator for switching to Primal: Progressively have changed my diet as my knowledge increased over the last 15 years since having my last child and becoming a group fitness instructor. Started competing in local fitness compeitions which changed my thought process on eating. The methodology is one that I'd toyed with before ever hearing of MDA or Mark Sisson; based on my own experiences of how various food made my body feel and how I looked.

              Then discovered that I have a wheat allergy which probably just really started to manifest itself since I have grains (except for rolled oats) very, very rarely.

              Am a strong runner and have found I can get decent sources of energy from veggies, I just have to eat A LOT of them.

              Favorite exercise:

              Weight training: Walking lunges, pullups, pushups. Avocate of women lifting heavy. Bench press my own weight, squat double my bodyweight.

              Cardio: Sprints which I do 2x a week. I also run, cycle and teach HIIT focused group exercise classes.

              Favorite Primal food: I love spinach...I literally eat it with everything. I also eat a LOT of eggs & chicken. Sweet poatoes are my favorite starchy complex carb.

              Best part about being Primal:

              I maintain 17% bodyfat and have for 5 years. I can cut to 15% within a two week period by upping cardio and focusing on eating fish (but I don't like to, I don't feel my best and my runs suffer). I have tons of energy, I get tons of compliments on my skin and I'm really strong.

              My kid's and hubby are proud of me.

              Worst part about being Primal:

              The rest of my family thinks I'm crazy. They call me the Nazi child. My dad owns/operates a large ranch and I don't eat beef (for good reason...for four years I would spend 2 weeks out of the summer on a packing plant slaughter floor). He grows wheat. I don't eat wheat products. Not exactly supporting his they don't exactly support mine.

              Its okay....I'm healthier than all of my brothers and I have one who is starting to notice and is changing his lifestyle too.

                Motivator for switching to Primal: Been researching the primal lifestyle for years. Read a handfull of book, Marks book is the most comprehensive I have found. I am a outdoor/survival educator by trade, so the PB fits nicely into my life.

                Favorite exercise: Kettlebell and Clubbell work oh and of course Ultimate!!

                Favorite Primal food: Fresh berries

                Best part about being Primal: boundless energy

                Worst part about being Primal: have yet to find a down side.

                  Do you consume dairy: Since starting, only a little butter and yogurt

                  Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes, decaf, "black" or with just a bit of sugar or honey

                  Motivator for switching to Primal: curiosity, health, weight loss, makes sense

                  Favorite exercise: walking my dog

                  Favorite Primal food: good lord, I don't know. bacon grease? scallops? artichokes w/hollandaise? So hard to choose.

                  Best part about being Primal: Not feeling hungry

                  Worst part about being Primal: Having to constantly be on guard and say no to all the junk food, shared appetizers, free pizza/cookies, etc... that is all around all the time.

                  Eating lots but still hungry? Eat more fat. Mid-day sluggishness? Eat more fat. Feeling depressed or irritable? Eat more fat. People think you've developed an eating disorder? Eat more fat... in front of them.

                    Do you consume dairy: I haven't for at least 3 months - including butter

                    Motivator for switching to Primal: Too fat - I want to buy a size 6 wedding dress (It's the floor model) and I don't want to pay full price - I want that floor model one instead of buying it retail for $2,000.

                    Favorite exercise: Bouldering

                    Best part about being Primal: Feeling healthy!

                    Worst part about being Primal: Annoying friends who mock the BP and always ask if every single food has some sort chemical in it - trying to be jerks. Also it doesn't help that my fiance, on the days he's in charge of dinner always picks pizza and fries >_>

                      Primal Pebble, the wedding dress is a great reason and I wish you success but do you think you will continue this lifestyle after you reach your goal?

                        How Primal are you: Ish? Only recently started out on this path, so am by no means strict, still enjoy sweet potato and occasional bread etc. But am already finding that I don't *want* the bread, cereal, junk food etc.

                        Do you consume dairy: Yes, mostly milk in tea, and cheese

                        Do you drink coffee or tea: Tea once or twice a day

                        Motivator for switching to Primal: Health and weight - am trying to manage pcos (hormonal; related to blood sugars) - conventional advice was useless, read up on vitamin D benefits/effects, and was then pointed towards primal/paleo approach. And it just makes sense to me!

                        Favorite exercise: Um! Not got that far, although I like walking

                        Favorite Primal food: STEAK. Rare. Mmmm...

                        Best part about being Primal: Steak! Not worrying about counting points, GI values, calories, % fat.... and feeling so much better and "lighter / brighter" already.

                        Worst part about being Primal: Breaking habits - what to take instead of a sandwich? And being badly affected by a carb binge - so much more noticeable now I'm feeling generally better. If / when I'm truly primal, I can imagine feeling guilty or angry seeing friends, family (and their kids) scoffing rubbish when they think it's healthy ("but it's wholegrain!!")

                          Motivator for switching to Primal: as a physical therapist with a special interest in evolution theory, it had to become clear to me that the combination of the two really makes sense. Websites like MDA were eye-opening: not only great information, but knowing that a lot of people feel and think the same is really good to know...

                          Favorite exercise: uphill sprints with 2year old son in baby carriage, and if possible: basketball (especially the 360 windmill jam :-))

                          Favorite Primal food: berries!!!

                          Best part about being Primal: doing the things I always loved, eating the things I always loved without excuses and with great results

                              How Primal are you: mmmmprobably 70-80% or so

                              Do you consume dairy: yes...and I like it--greek yogurt, pastured butter, cream, cheese, raw milk occasionally, and also ice cream sometimes

                              Do you drink coffee or tea: tea in the winter

                              Motivator for switching to Primal: I pretty much just agree with most of the principles, and want to do what is best for my body

                              Favorite exercise: I'm a competitive distance runner, so I pretty much love to run hard and fast

                              Favorite Primal food: mmmm HUGE salads with tons of veggies, and also fat of all kinds

                              Best part about being Primal: fat! food tastes so good

                              Worst part about being Primal: I am trying to gain weight...and it is impossible for me when I go totally primal, so I have to throw in some extra carbs, which I don't mind..also, popcorn popped in coconut oil and tossed with plenty of butter is one of my weaknesses, and I do not deny myself!

                                How Primal are you: Have been toying with no grains or processed foods and limited diary for past month or so (due to research on autoimmune disease and reading the Paleo Diet). Since reading Marks book (almost finished) and reading the archives on Marks Daily Apple, I had a moment when I new this was the right method for me. I knew that long term I could stick with this theory, it just felt right for me. So over the past 2 days I have been eating 95% primal (feeling great, 1 pound down already) still eating some non-organic meat (university student so $ poor) but it is lean and free range. I have always walked, starting sprints this morning (usually jog) and have kettlebell female starting kit on the way. I am aiming for 100% primal in the future.

                                Do you consume dairy: small amounts of organic butter and cream only to make a sauce.

                                Do you drink coffee or tea: Decaf freshly ground (in handgrinder) coffee that has been processed using the swiss water process so 100% chemical free.

                                Motivator for switching to Primal: Diagnosed with two auto-immune diseases, after a stressful period in my life. Left me very ill up from 19% b/f to 28% over three years, thyroid disease (hasimotos) and thrombocytopenia (low platelet count). I also suspect coeliac disease as numerous allergy tests identified all grains especially oats as causing an immune response. My thyroid disease was so severe my hormonal cycle ceased for 2 years and my estrogen was as low as a 12 year old girl (non-existant). This caused severe hormonal deficiences in someone who previously had no problems. I am now on armour thyroid derived from pig thyroid which is working better for me. Thyroxine made me very ill and was catabolic to my muscle mass. I have only been well enough to exercise in the past 6 months.

                                Favorite exercise: Sprints, did my first lot this morning and even carrying the extra weight I loved it. I have runners feet, never pursued it in any way just the occasional 20 min run intervals.

                                Weight training: Was a yoga junkie before getting ill. Will take this up again for play in the future. I havent done weights in 5 years or so, maintained lean 19% just with yoga, walking and the occasional interval run. I have ordered the female kettlebell starting kit and dvd from Melbourne in Australia so should arrive next week sometime. Its going to hurt alot as my muscle mass is very low but I am looking forward to it.

                                Cardio: Lots of long medium paced walking including big hills in my local area. Interval running again since beginning of year (very spasmotic). But will change this to sprints as of today.

                                Favorite Primal food: Eggs with organic butter melted on top and of course a juicy steak topped with slices of avocado.

                                Best part about being Primal:

                                Hopefully it will normalize my weight, I am already experiencing a flat stomach, more energy and clear skin from little diary and no grain diet. I feel good about this lifestyle and I want to live it.

                                Worst part about being Primal:

                                Nothing as yet. Socially my friends and family understand what I am doing after seeing my so ill. I dont eat out alot but when I do, they accommodate my preferences which is fantastic. They just want me well and bubbly again.

                                Day 2 primal has me feeling bright, with a happy digestive system. The endorphins are high after this morning's sprints. I am not hungry and most of all I have a huge smile on my face, because I know I have stumbled upon gold in the knowledge Mark has given us.
