How Primal are you: er...70%? I just started last week so I'm not entirely sure

Do you consume dairy: sometimes. I try to avoid milk most of the time, but I love cheddar and goat cheese.

Do you drink coffee or tea: either one. Water is my favorite drink, though.

Motivator for switching to Primal: I was tired of conventional diets, REALLY wanted to loose 30 pounds, and felt completely bored and unsatisfied with my current meal plan.

Favorite exercise: Sprints. I haven't done much weight training yet, but I plan to get heavier dumbbells soon, and maybe a pull-up bar.

      Favorite Primal food: bacon.

Best part about being Primal: I feel amazing. My skin is clearing. I don't feel dazed by the end of the day. I'm loosing weight. I actually feel like eating what is on my plate now, and my tastebuds are not numb to the sweetness of fruit, or veggies. Everything tastes better.

Worst part about being Primal: Convincing my family and friends that I am not crazy, and not going to die without grains.

          Weight: 278 lbs

Activity Levels: Sedentary (I work behind a desk for about 14+ hours a day.

Do you consume dairy: Yes.... I actually love Cheese, Milk, Sour Cream, Butter, Cream Cheese, Yogurt, etc.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Occasionally

Motivator for switching to Primal: Just Diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes

          Favorite exercise: Paintball

New to this....... I was just recently diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes (4 days ago) after ignoring signs of it for the last 10 years. I am rather lost so I am looking to others for guidance and that is what led me here.

From what I read, Mark's carb intake levels show that it is best (if I am not mistaken) to take in between 50-100grams max per day. Is this correct in my understanding?

I guess the three biggest questions would be for Mark and/or anyone here is:

          1. What is the MAX amount of CARBS in GRAMS per day suggested?

          2. What is the MAX amount of PROTEIN in GRAMS per day suggested?

          3. What is the MAX amount of FAT in grams per day suggested?

Honestly, I am rather scared about this new diagnosis and would love to have these basic questions answered to help me start this whole things and understand.

          Any help?

            Your location: Plano, TX

            Age (If you want): 45

            How Primal are you: 90%

Do you consume dairy: Not as much as I use to. Mainly just some fresh drinkable yogurt from a local dairy farm.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Green tea on ocassion

Motivator for switching to Primal: I have run and exercised for a few years now and could not get below 220 lbs. I read and intro to the PB book that said something about people who exercise a lot and weigh a lot. that was me. I decided that it was time to change. I also read "Born To Run" and decided that I should probably change some eating habits.

Favorite exercise: I like easy moderate length runs (~5 miles) to clear my head and heavy deadlifts as well as "Grok" crawls.

Favorite Primal food: That would be steak, eggs, apple, advacado, chinese bitter melon (great with egg).

Best part about being Primal: Losing weight and feeling great. (15 lbs in the first month) Walking in the sunshine and barefooted.

Worst part about being Primal: Giving up Coca-Cola. My wife thought I was a freak at first and thought I was nuts for not eating rice (she's Chinese). Most of the PB fits with Chinese cooking, except for the no rice thing). We've had quite a few discussions about this but she is starting to come around and it looks like she is starting to become Primal as well.

            • My First Post as a Newby!

Hello all! I am 5'7" and was 157 until today which I am at 147. I lost 10 pounds in 4.5 weeks just by cutting out grains and legumes. And adding more fruit and vegetables to my dailly intake. I have not added in the recommended exercise at this time but that is the next step. Oh! I must add that I have 1-2 glasses of wine 4-5 nights a week. I don't consider myself an alcoholic but it is my vice for right now. It ebbs and flows.

              Your location: St. Louis, MO

Age (If you want): Soon to be 45.

How Primal are you: Just 4.5 weeks into it. It began when my Primal BluePrint and Cookbook arrived.

Do you consume dairy: I use to have cereal all the time. Now I have a splash of whole milk or heavy cream in my coffee in the morning. I eat fermented cheese per the priaml guidelines.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Oh yes!

Motivator for switching to Primal: Hoping to naturally bring down my blood pressure and of course lose weight. I was told forget about losing weight when you are perimenopausal. Hah, my clothes are falling off.

Favorite exercise: Currently dancing with with my 19 mo. old and using her as a kettle ball..LOL. Hiking and walking with my dog is my second favorite.

Favorite Primal food: hmmm, I am a foody so there is not much that I do not like. I love all the choices and I don't feel deprived.

Best part about being Primal: My clothes are falling off; tons of energy; low blood pressure and my friends are jealous.

Worst part about being Primal: My husband teases me and won't eat my food.

My sister inadvertantly got me started on a low carb regime. She looks amazing after 6 months of training and etaing correctly. The only problem with her diet is that it is very restrictive and she works out three to four hours at a time. I did that all through my teens, 20's and 30's. By 35 I was burnt out, hungry and didn't give a rats ass if I wore a size 10. Now I am a new Mom and want to be healthy and a good role model for my daughter. By the time she starts school I will be almost 50 and do not want her to be embarrassed because her parents can't participate like the other parents. Can't speak for my husband because he thinks I am nuts and spending too much money for this lifestyle.

I have already removed acid reflux and high blook pressure meds from our budget. I rarely want to eat out anymore and am disciplined (at this time) about taking my lunch to work....that saves us about $40/week.

So, now that you know more than you want I will close for now! Please keep me in your thoughts as I continue to develop my primalness. (<:

Worst part about being Primal: Trying to explain my new eating habits to others as they try to push me into eating starchy foods.
