    Age (If you want): 31

How Primal are you: I've just started only two weeks ago, but I've been following the Primal Blueprint with the occasional indulgences of alcohol and dark chocolate.

Do you consume dairy: Yes, but rarely. In fact, I've had only one glass of milk in the last two weeks and only a couple slices of cheese. (I also often cook my eggs in butter...)

Do you drink coffee or tea: No

Motivator for switching to Primal: I have often struggled with keeping weight off once I lose it. First, I tried Atkins and lost a bunch of weight about five years ago, but it came back after I went off the diet. About three years ago, I lost weight by exercising consistently and counting calories. But once I went off that path, I gained all the weight back. A few months ago, I began to exercise and count calories because I know it works, but I've kept my eyes open to finding a solution that I can continue once the weight is off. After first learning about Paleo eating through LewRockwell.com articles, I followed the Amazon links to the various books, and I eventually chose the Primal Blueprint after visiting this fantastic site.

Favorite exercise: Walking with my kids.

Favorite Primal food: Eggs (and bacon)

Best part about being Primal: Since I'm new to this, I'd say excitement about improving the health of my family and me.

Worst part about being Primal: Figuring out how to switch my 7 & 9 year old kids over. Slowly but surely is the approach I'm using, but I can use lunch suggestions.

    • Hello all. I'm Wendy. Read the book months ago and about a week ago it seemed like time to start the lifestyle. I've always worked out (mostly compound full body exercises) which is great but I also beat myself up with three times a week spin class and HIIT after each resistance session. Love reading this web site and forum!

      Your location: Los Angeles, California

      Age (If you want): 52

How Primal are you: I started last Monday and have been 99% primal. I sinned with some soy sauce cooked onto my salmon (gasp!).

Do you consume dairy: No, not since I quit coffee a couple of weeks ago.

Do you drink coffee or tea: See above! Miss it sometimes.

Motivator for switching to Primal: I was always fit and in great shape but after the death of my father my adrenals were shot. I gained weight regardless of calorie restricion which made me do more spin class which made my cortisol higher which made it harder to lose weight...and so on! I've lost the obligatory water weight this week of 5 lbs in 6 days. Hopefully I will continue to lose (only have 12 to go).

Favorite exercise: Never thought I would like low intensity cardio like walking but it seems to balance my type A personality. Love it.

Favorite Primal food: Salmon, NY strip steak rare. Am having bacon for breakfast today. YAY!

Best part about being Primal: Eating simply and enjoying the flavor so much.

Worst part about being Primal: Getting enough calories in. I entered my foods yesterday into Fitday and they seemed kinda light.
      Never argue for your limitations.

            • In other forums I've been a member of in the past - at least for small communities - there's been a 'introduce yourself' thread with some questions that people can answer. I know that there are people reading this forum that are fully primal, partially primal, and are considering it. I thought that I'd put some questions together to cover these things just to get an idea of who's out there.

              The Questions:

              Your location: Seattle, Washington.

              Age (If you want):32.

How Primal are you:Trying to be 95%.

Do you consume dairy: Once in a blue moon.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes!

Motivator for switching to Primal: For the past 3+ years, I have been an avid marathon runner. Over time, I continue to get injured, despite wearing uber-padded shoes, doing yoga, etc...Over time, my weight has gone up and my running times have suffered. I have been eating a high=carb vegan (vegan for ethical reasons) diet during this time, result- I have put on weight and continue to get injured. I am by no means fat, but I fall into the "overweight" category in the BMI, and with all the healthy eating and working out I have been doing, I am suprised that I don't look as "ripped."

A few weeks ago, my injuries flared up so much that I couldn't even run around the block without being in pain. In the past, I have had gym memberships, so I used to do the elliptical (chronic cardio all the way!) to subsitiute for the running. I no longer belong to a gym, and I don't plan on joining one anytime soon. I hate doing the ellipitcal. I have some weights, mini trampoline, and pull up bar at home. I have been working out at home since March, I have noticed an increase in muscle mass. And I can walk to work at least 3 times a week.

Favorite exercise: Well, it was running. But I think now I am switching gears. I like dumbell flyes, pullups, randowm pushups and dips in my office, and walking as much as I can. When my injuries heal, I would like to try spriting every 10 days, and see how that works.

Favorite Primal food: Blueberries with walnuts.

Best part about being Primal: I don't know yet, since I have just started. *I have noticed thus far, that eating this way really forces me to eat ultra healthy, aka: I eat a ton of vegetables! I hope I start to feel better, injuries go down, and I drop bodyfat.

Worst part about being Primal: Craving carbs. Bringing my food everywhere I go.

How Primal are you: Third Week into It

                    Favorite Primal food: Nuts

Best part about being Primal: Let's me love my family: Instead of putting my kids in childcare (this process takes 30 minutes, causes seperation anxiety, and results in them watching tv/playing computer) while I zone out on a treadmill for 30 minutes, now I just chase my giggling kids all over the house, yard, playground - sprinting after them, hiding behind trees, and flopping onto the ground for a rest together. Also, I kept telling my husband I'd go on his boat with him when I lose weight with my jogging/diet program, which I never could. Now I go on the boat where we swim and do water sports - I get to just have fun and find I've magically lost weight when the weekend is over.

Worst part about being Primal: Separating myself from my daily steel-cut oatmeal routine. Figuring out what to do with the expensive breadmaker and rice cooker I purchased last year.

                    Good luck, Everybody!

Motivator for switching to Primal: It just sort of dawned on me one day that I should probably be eating what our ancestor were eating. I found PB about 2 years later and it completely changed the game for me.

                          • Hey everyone, what's going on? My name is TJ and I am pretty much brand new to the whole Primal Blueprint concept, although I have been researching healthy lifestyles, nutrition and exercise a lot for the past 6 months or so. I love playing pretty much all sports, trying new things and expanding my horizons, meeting new people, listening to all kinds of music and being healthy. I'm excited to try this new way of living and hopefully get to know some of you on here! Don't be afraid to add me as a friend too

                            Your location: Central New Jersey

                            Age (If you want): 21

How Primal are you: Mostly primal; I just bought the book 2 weeks ago, so I'm still in the process of switching over. I'm switching over from a meat free diet to a grain free diet. The only dairy I eat is yogurt which I need to figure out a substitute for, and a light amount of cheese now and then. Also, I've started to do a lot more longer slower activity like walks or bike rides, and less chronic cardio. I'm still trying to figure out some good primal lifting routines.

Do you consume dairy: Only 1 cup of yogurt after workouts, and I use cheese very sparingly.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Sometimes white or green tea.

Motivator for switching to Primal: It has been my mission for the past 6 months to be as healthy and fit as possible. I want to have more energy, be stronger and faster, feel better and strengthen my immune system. I also my friends to be motivated to live a healthier lifestyle after they see the good things it has done for me.

                            Favorite exercise: Sledgehammer Swings

Favorite Primal food: Any type of Omelette

Best part about being Primal: Having an overall good feeling about yourself.

Worst part about being Primal: It's difficult when you're working in front of a computer screen in an office for 8 hours a day.
