  • Primal greetings from good old Germany!

    Your location: Münster, Germany

    Age (If you want): 26

How Primal are you: If I had to put a number to it, I'd say somewhere around 80-90%. I started following the PB a few weeks ago highly motivated, let's hope the results keep me going!

Do you consume dairy: Yes, I'm slightly addicted to yogurt. But at least I switched to full fat greek style, and replaced the chocolate chips with fruit and cocoa powder.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Some coffee at work, but mainly for the social aspect. Apart from that, just water.

Motivator for switching to Primal: Somehow I stumbled upon MDA, found the concept interesting, ordered the book and decided to give it a try.

Favorite exercise: Rock climbing. I also enjoy my SimpleFit workout I started last week. Finally I have an effective and time-saving home workout routine.

Favorite Primal food: Way too much to list, but nuts deserve a special mention. They enhance almost every meal, or can be eaten on their own and keep you going for a surprisingly long time.

Best part about being Primal: I never was into cooking (I always said "Why spend time cooking my own food when I can simply pay others to do so" ), but it's actually a lot of fun and very rewarding.

Worst part about being Primal: The time commitment for planning and preparing meals, but it's worth it. Also talking to ignorant people. Sometimes you cannot avoid having to "explain yourself", but regardless of what you say, you'll seem weirder and weirder with every word.

Some random things I noticed since going primal (6 weeks ago):
    - Primal food is much easier to digest. No more rumbling intestines or feeling bloated and gassy.
    - I never knew I could eat that much, until I'm completely stuffed, and don't feel bloated. But it's possible with primal food!
    - I was on vacation a few weeks ago, which is one of the occasions where sticking to the PB can be quite cumbersome. So one evening I gave in and we went to a fast food joint. I ordered a pizza, and what can I say - wow, that stuff actually tastes quite bland! I guess a few weeks of eating lots of fresh vegetables and fruit spoiled me...
    - I drink quite a bit less, probably due to the higher water content in my new diet. Additionally, drinking only water is not as problematic as I thought - I don't drink that much anymore anyway, plus I save money on beverages.
    - Weight loss. I started out with fairly good conditions (1.78 m, 71 kg, body composition a bit on the athletic side). Down to 68.5 kg now. My gf already complained about the missing "handles" around my rib area
    - Buying 20 eggs on Saturday will never ever last the whole week. Sometimes they're gone by Wednesday...
    - Declaring Sunday "food preparation day" was a good idea.

Finally a question for the Germans around here: Do you know of any good German internet resources relevant to the PB? Most aspects are covered in this forum/on this website, but questions like where to buy certain foods are better suited to a more localized community.

    Grok on!

                • Hi everyone!

                  Your location: Seattle, Washington

                  Age (If you want): 25

How Primal are you: Kind of?

Do you consume dairy: Only half and half with coffee, and a drop in my scrambled eggs.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes and yes.

Motivator for switching to Primal: Paleo eating was a requirement of the fitness challenge at my gym (crossfit) in March. I liked it, so I've stuck with it.

                  Favorite exercise: pull ups!

                  Favorite Primal food: Grapes.

Best part about being Primal: It eliminated my digestive problems (though they returned when I lapsed, and I haven't gotten rid of them again) and I lost about 10 pounds.

Worst part about being Primal: My friend is probably the best home cook in Seattle, and she is definitely not a primal cook/baker. Working out the "worth it" digressions can be really difficult for me.

                  • Your location: Boise, Idaho, USA

                    Age: 30

How Primal are you: Pretty Primal now, I was strictly primal my first month, and lost 20 pounds. After that I kind of fell off the wagon and went to about 50% primal, but I'm back on the wagon now, and going full bore.

Do you consume dairy: Only occasionally, I might have the occasional yogurt, or add some heavy cream to my scrambled eggs. But it's probably on the order of once or twice a month.

Do you drink coffee or tea: I drink my coffee black. As black as can be. I do drink tea occasionally, but it's of the herbal kind.

Motivator for switching to Primal: I wanted to lose weight. My weight had inched up to 232lbs by March 1st.

Favorite exercise: Rollerblading! I like pushups, pullups and situps too.

Favorite Primal food: STEAK! I'd love to say grass fed, but that's just not an option right now. I also love eggs.

Best part about being Primal: I have a ton more energy than I used to have.

Worst part about being Primal: Having to explain it to people, and having loved ones that are not primal.

Age (If you want): The big 5-0 in 2 weeks!

How Primal are you: Maybe 75%? Guessing, as I'm just getting started, but I've been eating wheat free, mostly other-grain-free, and high fat for months now. Just started reintroducing red meats after about 15 years of eating no red meat. It has resulted in an improvement in our family's diet quality, as I rely much less on processed foods, even on busy workdays.

Do you consume dairy: Yes. Occasional cheese (less than I used to), definitely butter, heavy cream, sometimes yogurt or kefir for the probiotics. It would be a sad world without good cheese.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes, both. Coffee at B and mid-a.m., then herbal teas for the rest of the day. I'm a hot drink granny from way back.

Motivator for switching to Primal: Losing the last 15 lbs to really bring %BF down to healthy range. Stay as healthy and high energy as possible. My digestive tract doesn't appreciate wheat. Getting through menopause and middle age and coming out the other side better than ever.

Favorite exercise: I'm a runner, though battling some wonky joints and tight tendon issues right now. Need to reassess and revise my fitness routine and find some more "Grokish" exercises. Looking into a chin-up bar.

Favorite Primal food: bacon, eggs, avocados, all green vegetables, macadamia nuts and almonds.

Best part about being Primal: Don't know yet. This is a new, more expanded twist on my current high fat, grain-free unprocessed food diet.

Worst part about being Primal: Giving up distance running? I'm really not sure. I still love the smell of baking.

I have been using the Shangri La diet for the past 3 years, and the forum community there has been a wealth of information and inspiration regarding different approaches to health, a really mind-expanding experience. I come to Mark's Daily Apple and the Primal Blueprint information through a link from there. The holistic approach (both body and mind, both food and exercise, all aspects of lifestyle) appeals to me.

Do you drink coffee or tea: coffee (now and then) same with tea.

Motivator for switching to Primal: Been following a lowcarb/zerocarb diet for sometime just to adjust but feel its time to switch to abit more open and natural diet.

Favorite exercise: 20mins of pain doing super slow resistance training. (yes at the gym but only 1 time per week)

Favorite Primal food: Meat and leafs.
