    How primal are you: Last 10 days 100 %

    Do you consume dairy: Some, in particular full fat yoghurt and cream

    Do you drink coffee or tea: Both, but only freshly prepared with quality tea leaves or fresh (and fresh ground) coffee beans

    Motivator for switching to Primal: Energy levels, body composition, future health

    Favorite exercise: Weight training, hiking, biking and skiing

    Favorite Primal food: Sashimi, eggs and grilled meat of all kinds

    Best part about being Primal: Do not think about food all the time, don't crave stuff I know is bad for me

    Worst part about being Primal: Turning down lovingly prepared food (will probably keep fitting this in as a 5 % exception)

      How Primal are you:don't eat red meat or pork....Other than that i think I'm 100%. So what does that equal? you tell me.

      Do you consume dairy: Only in cheese (my vise)

      Do you drink coffee or tea: my other vise... Coffee black & bitter

      Motivator for switching to Primal: no carb low fat didn't last. dropped 95lbs. grained back 35lbs.

      Been Primal for 6 1/2 weeks, lost 25lbs, feel awsome. I think I now have the tools to take my health to the next level. I have an addictive personaltity, I think im addicted to being addicted. If I eat a processed a carb, Its all over for me. No mid line for me

        How Primal are you: Maybe 70%? We're in the process of switching from primarily vegan/vegetarian to primal.

        Do you consume dairy: Occasionally. I enjoy Greek Yogurt (full fat!) and cream in my coffee when I occasionally have it.

        Do you drink coffee or tea: Coffee sometimes. I've been trying to give it up for a few months. Moving toward drinking tea.

        Motivator for switching to Primal: Tired of the carbs/cardio rut and my inability to lose those "last 10 pounds." Additionally, due to a sports injury, I have arthritis in my knee and I have long noticed that as I avoid carbs, the pain goes away completely.

        Favorite exercise: Hiking

        Favorite Primal food: Eggs, salmon jerky, or chicken livers.

        Best part about being Primal: Feeling great when I'm close to 100%, noting a tightness in my skin and lean-ness that I was never able to achieve in being vegan or vegetarian. Also, I don't bloat!

        Worst part about being Primal: Dealing with my mom, who is hopelessly entrenched in CW/French Women Don't Get Fat/scary ED behavior.

        As I said above, I'm in a transition period toward primal. I was vegetarian for probably six years, vegan for one, and then decided to only eat mainly whole/local foods, which definitely had a healing effect. Unfortunately, I did allow myself soy milk and was still fairly concerned about getting whole grains (ugh!) and avoiding fat. I'm very eager to try being at least 80% primal, but last time we tried, I had a really bad period of carb flu that made me stop. I'm going to a wedding this week, but then I'm jumping back on the Primal bandwagon. I'm tried of poor sleep, bloating, and feeling like I need cardio to deal with the carbs. My fiance and I love eating a plant-based primal diet and we're so excited to get started again. Looking forward to talking to all of you here. This seems like such a supportive community!

          How Primal are you: 90-100% normally. 85% on Christmas.

          Do you consume dairy: Cheese

          Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes/Yes. Although, since going Primal I have cut my coffee intake considerably. I do drink green tea.

          Motivator for switching to Primal: Best friend started it, a brief chat had me extremely interested. The information/support from MDA got me hooked.

          Favorite exercise:

          Favorite Primal food: Avocado

          Best part about being Primal: Laughing at non-primals when I see them making tragic food choices Just kidding. My favorite part is feeling like I discovered the fountain of youth at 27 at such a young age and being able to educate and change the lives of family members who have been inspired by my primal change.

          Worst part about being Primal: The occasional burrito after a night filled with vodka/tonics. San Diego's Mexican food is top-notch.

            How Primal are you: 70% so far - was vegetarian, then vegan, then Gluten-Free, now working on Primal

            Do you consume dairy: Rarely - bits of goat cheese from market & greek yogurt in some recipes.

            Do you drink coffee or tea: Tea! Lots of it. Usually herbal.

            Motivator for switching to Primal: Finally figure out stomach issues and I missed steak a tad too much.

            Favorite exercise: Riding my shiny new purple bike I just bought for myself to get around town.

            Favorite Primal food: Anything coconut, local elk/buffalo/yak jerky, & salmon.

            Best part about being Primal: Eating all this glorious animal fat (duck fat!!), enjoying shopping for local grass-fed meats at the Beaverton's Farmers Market where I work a booth every Saturday.

            Worst part about being Primal: Looking longingly at my partner's biscuits and gravy when we go out to eat breakfasts & living in what's commonly seen as a mecca for vegans/vegetarians and gluten-free peoples (Portland).

              How Primal are you: Id say it ranges from 75-90% depending.

              Do you consume dairy: yes. I do try to keep it somewhat limited but dairy is a huge weakness of mine.

              Do you drink coffee or tea: coffee.

              Motivator for switching to Primal: I lost over 100lbs and then the last 2 years I went all CW and didnt lose ANYTHING the whole 2 years (even while doing p90x/insanity)..I just know my body and it doesn't like grains. at all.

              Favorite exercise: anything boxing/kickboxing related...also love working biceps and chest the best when lifting.

              Favorite Primal food: Eggs...I consume an ungodly amount and NEVER get tired of them.

              Best part about being Primal: um..bacon. duh.

              Worst part about being Primal: nothing really...since I'm not 100% primal if I really really want a piece of bread I'll eat it. My cravings for carbs have NEVER been nearly as strong as my cravings for fats are. Although I have yet to IF and it is a little intimidating for me to try.

                I am 35 and live in Victoria, British Columbia Canada. I have been eating about 85% primally for the past two months or so. Going primal wasn't a huge change for me as I like my veggies and steak and have always made an effort to buy organic when possible. I don't miss eating grains, but I do miss how easy they are when you come home from a long day at work and want something quick with little prep or clean up. My big challenge is getting enough exercise. I am on my feet all day at work and often end up working 10 - 12 hours and just don't have the energery (mentally or physically) to get up and go work out after. I start work at 5am, so I am not really interested in getting up even earlier to work out before work...As a result I have only lost a few pounds so far but would like to lose much more.

                I eat some dairy, mostly cream in my coffee, and a bit of yogurt. I eat a lot less cheese than I did before going primal.

                I drink do drink coffee and tea. No sugar in either.

                I decided to go Primal because I don't like processed foods and all the sugar and additives. Last year I was diagnosed with a soy allergy. After a year of coughing constantly and to the point the muscles around my lungs were strained and damaged and any physical activity that made me breath even slightly heavily caused pain, I finally said no more chest x-rays and antibiotics when none of the doctors could confirm if what I had even was an infection or not and their random perscriptions weren't doing anything and went to see a naturalpath. She correctly suggested I have a food allergy and after a long process of eliminating foods and slowly re-introducing them we discovered soy was the culprit. Once I knew this I really started reading labels on everything. Soy bean oil and soy lethicin seemed to be in every single thing I picked up! It is a cheap filler with a reputation of being "good for you" but is actually the number one genetically modified crop in the world and also in 7th place of the top ten allergies. I already ate a lot of salads, so little things like making my own dressings to replace bottled store bought brands was not a big deal, passing up the jars of pasta sauce that contain soy bean oil meant no more pasta dinners.
                Several years ago I had success losing weight with the Atkins diet. However, I was not 100% satisfied with their teachings as they suggested a lot of processed substitutes for carb based foods and really pushed sucralos sugar substitutions and of course soy as a substitute for everything. I find the Primal Blueprint makes more sense as the suggested foods focus on natural whole organic foods rather.

                The most interesting thing I have noticed since going Primal is how much more sensitive I am to sweetness now that I am not eating any sugar.

                The most difficult thing I have found is simply the fact that I manage a restaurant where 97% of the items we sell are all grains and sugar so I now bring my lunch to work with me instead of eating the very food I am selling to customers.

                  Your location: What I like to call Puddletown, OR...or Portland. The good ol' (currently) rainy NW.

                  Age (If you want): Just turned 30 and this is the strongest I have ever been!

                  How Primal are you: 90% Primal and thinking that's as good as it will get. I like to occasionally enjoy the flavors of certain foods that might not make the 'Primal' list and I am ok with that.

                  Do you consume dairy: Only in the form of hard cheese.

                  Do you drink coffee or tea: I love a good cup of coffee but limit to one a day. The rest of the day I'm a green tea drinker.

                  Motivator for switching to Primal: I naturally fell into this way of eating as part of a food elimination process to treat stomach issues. I was suffering from chronic acid reflux since I was young and had been taking prescription meds to treat the symptoms (not the cause). Since I've eliminated processed foods, grains and most dairy, my stomach is much happier and I have been off prescrip meds for a year now!

                  Favorite exercise: Squats or Deadlift. Those compound exercises are amazing. I would add weighted walking lunges as a closed 2nd or 3rd because they get me the closest to wanting to cry.

                  Favorite Primal food: Steak.

                  Best part about being Primal: Feeling confident about my food choices and knowing that I am making conscious food choices versus eating whatever is around.

                  Worst part about being Primal: I have hard a hard time kicking the habit of sugar-free energy drinks. Especially on those days when I am IF-ing...but I am learning to love green tea and all of its health benefits.

                    How Primal are you: Just starting out (day 2). Am doing a primal challenge through June to see if (as I suspect) this is the right plan for me.

                    Do you consume dairy: Yes. Love, love, love cheese! I've cut back on drinking milk, though, although I still plan to use it in cooking. And I've always taken my coffee black.

                    Do you drink coffee or tea: both

                    Motivator for switching to Primal: Have known for a long time that I feel better on low carb. Browsing MDA got me interested in the science behind it, and it all makes sense. Main motivators are current weight (highest ever), volatile blood sugar, and the reality of turning 50 and wanting to enjoy and make the most of the second half of life.

                    Favorite exercise: Dancing! Swimming when I have access to water.

                    Favorite Primal food: I love most meat and seafood. Favorites are roast chicken, steak, and shrimp.

                    Best part about being Primal:Too early to tell yet, except that since I naturally tend to like primal foods, it doesn't feel like punishment the way CW weight loss programs always have.

                    Worst part about being Primal: I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I love bread, pasta, and pizza. I will miss them a lot.

                      How Primal are you: 90% - mostly following Loren Cordain's advice, but using a lot of Mark's, too

                      Do you consume dairy: No

                      Do you drink coffee or tea: Coffee, black and fresh brewed from whole beans (yes, I'm a coffee snob)

                      Motivator for switching to Primal: Losing weight to help recover from an ankle injury. I weighed 268 pounds when I injured my ankle, and I kept re-injuring it.

                      Favorite exercise: Walking the dog

                      Favorite Primal food: Flank steak, salmon, anything grilled

                      Best part about being Primal: I lost 15 lbs. my first two weeks of being primal. I have tons of energy and a lot more motivation.

                      Worst part about being Primal: Giving up beer. Although it's allowed, I'm trying to lose weight, so I mostly gave it up.

                        Favorite exercise: I like aerobics as I always feel better afterwards. Also lift weights for strength.

                        Best part about being Primal: It allows some great foods

                        Worst part about being Primal: I miss bagels :-)

                          Best part about being Primal: It is already mostly how I have learned to eat. I raise my own garden, hunt my own meat and fish, and rarely have prepared food.

                            Motivator for switching to Primal: Went raw a few years ago, and found that I was lacking the protein no matter what I did. I added meat to the raw and found it worked well. Primal is a refining step for me.
