    Motivator for switching to Primal: PCOS & Endometriosis, history of recurrent miscarriages. I want to drop 65 pounds

    Favorite exercise: Hiking/bushwalking

    Favorite Primal food: no favourites (yet)

    Best part about being Primal: not sure, I have only just started. Until today I didn't even know there was a difference between Primal and Paleo so I have alot to learn

    Worst part about being Primal: no more toast dripping with melted butter

    • Moving from Seattle to Prague is challenging my Primal lifestyle!

      Long time MDA lurker.

      Finally joined the forums because we just relocated from the US to the Czech Republic three weeks ago, and I'm struggling to continue our primal eating habits. The Friday success stories always inspire me, so I figured the community in the forum might be good support as we make this transition. (Any Czech groketts out there?!)

      The two major challenges are the bread and beer, which are my weaknesses, and sourcing the food variety that we are used to at home (coconut and almond flour) - especially when I don't have a lot of language yet! That said, most restaurants are cool about leaving off the grain and adding extra veggies when asked. I still would like to cook at home more.

      I'm happy to note that life without a car has organically added lot more primal movement (like walking, carrying groceries) to my day. We also take more walks in the evening to explore the city, and I've started sprinting stairs and doing body weight workouts at home.

      Age (If you want): mid 30s

      How Primal are you: At home, I was effortlessly 90% but that's slipped to at least 75% since moving. I also IF 2x week.

      Do you consume dairy: In moderation. I have a soft spot for sheep and goat cheeses, and will take whole milk in coffee occasionally I stick to mostly almond milk in coffee though.

      Do you drink coffee or tea: Both! No coffee after 3pm and only herbal teas.

      Motivator for switching to Primal: My husband went primal almost two years ago and took me with him :-) He looks FANTASTIC and feels great. Plus, I'm a total carnivore and the promised land of sustainable meat based diet without going to Atkins extreme won me over. (it IS possible to OD on bacon alone. Trust me.)

      Favorite exercise: Yoga

      Favorite Primal food: I have new appreciation for coconut!

      Best part about being Primal: Being able to eat until satiated without feeling guilty/stuffed, saying good bye to chronic cardio (I hated the elliptical anyway) and being in the best shape of my life with the least amount of effort.

      Worst part about being Primal: Sometimes I do miss bread...and beer... ("Croissants, I can't quit you!")

      (I envy my husband because he very easily goes 100% - some truth to the stereotype of German discipline - and resists the slightest temptations. Standing at the cafe counter, I still find myself battling an inner temper-tantrum-throwing-three-year-old while trying to avoid eye contact with the baked goods. I definitely "fudge" more since we've moved and I have the snug pants to prove it!)

        Do you drink coffee or tea: Coffee daily, sometimes tea.

        Motivator for switching to Primal: Insulin resistant, gluten intolerant, want to lose about 25 lbs of fat, lessen or eliminate systemic inflammation from grains.

        Favorite exercise: Mostly weight training exercises, walking, some running, trail biking.

        Favorite Primal food: Pork.

        Best part about being Primal: No wheat belly, better blood profile.

        Worst part about being Primal: People don't understand.

          How Primal are you:

          100% but working on getting more organic produce regularly, which is not easy here, and trying to eat more seasonally

          Do you consume dairy: yes, butter, yoghurt, have cut out milk completely and enjoy occasional old stinky cheese

          Do you drink coffee or tea: decaf coffee and herbal tea, usually camomile

          Motivator for switching to Primal: To lose weight, feel healthy and avoid doctors

          Favourite exercise: walking about in the city, which I do 5 to 7 miles everyday

          Favourite Primal food: quinoa, avocado, steak, eggs, 80% cocoa dark chocolate, extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil

          Best part about being Primal: fitting into my old clothes, feeling great, not getting ill, I mean NEVER, no colds, no flu's, nothing.
          I've recently taken up surfing at the age of 46, with no aches or pains afterwards. I've got my taste buds and sense of smell back. The smell of bread/cakes/fastfood makes me feel queezy. I'm also helping other people at work go primal too. Not having to go to a gym, EVER. Being able to drink red wine. I live in Chile, all the red here is fantastic.

          Worst part about being Primal: 1) eating out in restaurants. i can taste the vegetable oils used
          2) worrying abut what my 4 year old daughter eats

            Location: NJ, USA (ask me about how it's not like you see on TV)
            Age: 35
            How primal: Variable really. Depends on the sample size (day, week, month, year). Believe in perfect being the enemy of good but fairly well disciplined about it.

            Dairy: yes, though very little. I'll add cheese to things for sat fat and because hey, it tastes good.
            Coffee or tea: both yes but since I've made the shift much less coffee and way more tea.
            Motivator: GI distress and body comp. Will wait for another spot to go into long history but mine was both a health issue and dissatisfaction over how I looked physically.

            Favorite primal food: tough to pick one so I'll take a staple meal. Eggs cooked in bacon fat with raw green onions and slow cooked flank steak in a cumin heavy rub. (see my avatar)
            Best part of primal: Progress. Along with my gym routine heavily influenced by Mark's direction I have seen continuous and real progress in both how I feel and how I look.
            Worst part: I miss beer. Crafty type stuff. A good cold beer in a tall pint glass... the taste, the smell...

            • I'm starting the paleo diet today, so will answer truthfully but of course these answers will probably not apply from here on in!

              Age (If you want): 37

              How Primal are you:

              Been dipping my toe in this past year, e.g. cutting back on carbs, sugary foods, but now am ready to go for it.

              Do you consume dairy: yes, butter, cheeses and milk. Am hoping to continue with a little cheese only and milk in my coffee

              Do you drink coffee or tea: one coffee per day and some herbal teas

              Motivator for switching to Primal: Lots of minor medical problems at the moment - recurring headaches, feeling like I am low on vitamin B12 (have some symptoms but my bloods say I am in the safe range???), digestion issues, lots of fatigue and low moods, poor sleep, and I am just over the safe cholesterol limit (5.8). Need a total overhaul!

              Favourite exercise: I really enjoy a non-competitive run in the park, or a boot camp class depending on my energy levels (which I hope are about to increase dramatically!)

              Favourite Primal food: I love meat and eggs and green vegetables.

              Best part about being Primal: Not sure yet

              Worst part about being Primal: So far I am struggling to work out what to eat and how to measure....I guess I was looking for a meal plan of sorts but will just wing it and track on and see how I get on.

                How Primal are you: Have just started reading about Paleo so am starting tomorrow, planning my weeks meals today so I can go shopping and get the correct food in.

                Do you consume dairy: I do normally but will try not to with starting Paleo

                Motivator for switching to Primal: It kinda makes sense and I have a friend who really praises it.

                Favorite exercise: Hmmmm no favourite exercise but will be starting running as I promised someone that I would do one.

                Worst part about being Primal: Not sure yet but think it'll be that I don't know how quick I can cook a meal as I sometimes cannot be bothered.

                  Age: 28 almost 29

                  How Primal am I?: Good question. I am not quite sure how to answer that. On advice from my doctor I have cut out all grains and most processed foods (I can't seem to give up salad dressing and condiments completely, but I am doing with a lot less)

                  Do I consume dairy?: I consume dairy in limited amounts. Mostly I just do greek yogurt with fruit compote that I make or honey as a sweetner. I am lactose intolerant so I avoid most dairy, although I will on occasion (few and far between) do cheese when I just can't take it anymore.

                  Do I drink coffee or tea?: Why yes, yes I do. Every day.

                  Motivator for switching to Primal: Back in March 2013 my legs bloated up and I gained 10 pounds of water weight in two days. Needless to say, this was abnormal so I went to my doctor and they said it was probably a diabetic reaction. As it turns out, after I was referred to a local specialist, it was my first indication that my triglycerides were skyrocketing and that I was beginning the path to insulin resistance. I was not there yet, but if I continued my diet as it was I would develop diabetes over the next ten to twenty years or so. Needless to say, that is unacceptable. I started off just cutting out the processed grains and refined sugars and all processed foods in general (no box dinners, etc). That allowed me to lose all of the water weight in my legs and more besides. When my most recent blood tests came in, we realized it was not enough and I would have to cut out grains completely. I am still coming to grips with it. It has only been two weeks eating this way and I have already lost 17 pounds- probably mostly water weight.

                  Favorite Exercise: Zumba

                  Favorite Primal Food: As of right now I pretty much hate it all. Still getting used to it. Although, because I am pretty sure I went through withdrawl symptoms or something very much like it just getting off of grains I am determined to stick it out. I don't want to be addicted to anything.

                  Best Part About Being Primal: I can eat a lot less and be fuller longer. I am only eating on average about 1000 calories a day, I think I figured out, and I don't really ever feel hungry. When I do, I eat.

                  Worst Part About Being Primal: Every kind of food I love has been ripped from my life. I dream about cereal. It's a problem. But like I said, I am determined to make it a lifestyle and I love this website- it's the only thing keeping me going right now. The other thing I hate is how gosh darn expensive everything is- we were barely getting by before and this has thrown a major monkey wrench into the finances. But health is tantamount and I refuse to inject myself when I turn 50.

                    Motivator for switching to Primal: Tired of being tired, lacking energy, still carrying weight after my second child who just turned six and want to loose it. Found this site whilst looking into IF. Have being doing IF (4 hour eating window) for seven days now and have walked 46 klms this week. Rest day today but will be doing 10 klms per day/6 days per week. Now really want to ensure I eat the right things when I do eat.

                    Favorite exercise: Walking. Have not done any exercise since running at school.

                      Motivator for switching to Primal:

                      My major motivators are to achieve the fat-burning metabolism and have an anti-inflammatory diet / lifestyle. I actually have difficulty maintaining weight. Perhaps my protein load has been a bit too high coupled with the high caffeine intake. I'm still figuring this out. I've been eating whole foods for a long time, but I've been eating whole grains and abusing caffeine. My diet has been high protein, but I now realize I've been stressing my body with a high amino acid load from energy drinks.

                      Favorite exercise: Yoga

                      Favorite Primal food: Right now it's mixed greens with berries, peaches, walnuts, fresh pomegranate, and some meat with raspberry vinaigrette.

                      Best part about being Primal: It feels so natural.

                      Worst part about being Primal: I'm on the go a lot and this takes planning.

                        • Hi everyone, I'm very new to Paleo.....good friends of mine have been living the primal life for about four years and are lookin and feeling great!

                          I briefly looked into this lifestyle about two years ago but decided the change would be too drastic and leave my children (fussy little turds) starving....well one of them at least!

                          After having nearly a year out of work and a miscarriage I woke up one day and realised I've gained nearly 12kgs and I'm not getting any younger. So in the last few weeks i have been researching paleo again and lets be honest who doesnt love the idea of eating bacon everyday!!! So here i am one week in and loving it! To top it off ive already been told my face looks thinner!

                          Favorite exercise: umm don't really do any designated exercise at the moment....I teach swimming so I'm in the pool moving around often and I do love swimming!

                          Best part about being Primal: in one week I'm noticing I am not that hungry and feel better oh and my skin isn't as dry as normal (for me)!

                              Hi all have been trying to follow the PB for the last 9 weeks now with certain goals I've put in place....and even though I've had the odd cheat I've met every goal!!

                              I've lost 26Lbs!! I feel great. I've just been away on holiday with my gorgeous family for three weeks to florida.... I only lost 1.5 kilos but I actually went on holiday and lost weight!!!

                              I've never eaten do many veggies in my life and I have so much more energy!!

                              Awesome diet and loving it!!!

                                How Primal are you: Apart from Yogurt and a splash of milk in my tea / coffee, I stick to what Mark has to say.

                                Motivator for switching to Primal: I had high blood pressure (was on pills), very high triglycerides, fatty liver, high LDL and total cholestrol, low HLD and I was also over-weight (97.8 kgs end of Aug 2012). Was on the verge of starting Statins and had recently failed at stopping alcohol after 10 days of being sober.

                                Favorite exercise: Name says it - Squats. When I started, I did 3 squats and had horrible cramps for 3 days.

                                Favorite Primal food: Roasted almond butter

                                Best part about being Primal: I can eat all the eggs, meat & fat in the world and since I am a foodie, I have found my love for cooking
