    How Primal are you: Diet-wise, easy 90% (still need fail-eo treats now and again...) and working on the rest of the areas (haven't gotten into LHT and sprints- yet)

    Do you consume dairy: Yes, I'm crazy about Greek yoghurt! And cheese...
    Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes, though normally only 1*day

    Motivator for switching to Primal: I'd heard about it from a few people over the past year or so and was interested, and finally decided to give it a proper go in the new year. I lost my Mum suddenly before Christmas, and figured I wanted to nourish myself in this tough time, and going primal this just made sense to me.

    Favorite exercise: Yoga, touch rugby, running, kayaking.

    Favorite Primal food: Steak with creamy mushrooms
    (this makes me laugh after 8yrs as a vegetarian)... I'm enjoying trying new paleo recipes.

    Best part about being Primal: my body feels good, and no longer having energy peaks & troughs is a bonus!

    Worst part about being Primal: apart from missing porridge, nothing really. I was wheatfree for 7yrs before going primal, so it didn't feel like a massive jump.

      Age (If you want): 28

      How Primal are you: I try, can't always afford to go organic, its more of a treat. I mainly have frozen veggies, sometimes frozen meat too. Not ideal I know, but my main concern is making meat veggies and fruit the staples of my diet rather than processed carbs. Ideally I'd like to go 100% organic, grow my own etc, but this just isn't viable at the moment. While this isn't ideal, I feel its better than what I was doing before, one step at a time etc.

      Do you consume dairy: Yes, I love cooking with butter, it makes everything taste good.

      Do you drink coffee or tea
      : Rarely, never been that fond of it! Like a nice fruit flavoured green every now and then, maybe the odd coffee. Not really that fussed about either to be honest though.

      Motivator for switching to Primal: I stumbled across the primal stuff while I was doing a very low carb lifestyle. I originally went low carb for weight loss, but after a few months I noticed not only did I lose all the weight, I felt so much better in so many ways I started looking into low carb lifestyles and came across the primal blueprint. Since then I've added in some much needed fruit and veg to my diet without putting the weight back on, and I've never felt better.

      Favorite exercise: Slow jogging, or medium weight lifting.

      Favorite Primal food: I love meat so this is difficult... Any sort of eggs, beef, bacon... Less keen on veg but I love peppers, onions and spinach. Love apples, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.

      Best part about being Primal: Energy levels, I do crazy shift work and have a very bad sleep pattern. Going primal has helped me work out when I am actually sleep deprived and need a nap rather than just having a sugar crash.

      Worst part about being Primal: Other people. Constantly thinking I'm on some sort of fad diet, this drives me nuts its like people go out of their way not to understand. Also eating primal takes a lot of planning as its not like you can just pick up a primal ready meal or order a primal dish at a fast food joint.

        How Primal are you: New - Still struggling with cravings and slip-ups.

        Do you consume dairy: Yes - Butter, Greek yogurt, sour cream, some cheese. A small glass of milk if I'm really craving it.

        Do you drink coffee or tea: I drink a cup of tea just about every morning.

        Motivator for switching to Primal: I want to look good naked, mostly! I also want to be strong, and feel good in my body.

        Favorite exercise: Long walks with my family.

        Favorite Primal food: Oh geez.. Um. Bacon. A good steak. Roasted asparagus wrapped in prosciutto. Strawberries.

        Best part about being Primal: When I'm sticking with it, I feel wonderful, my skin is lovely, and I have so much energy.

        Worst part about being Primal: Falling off the wagon. Explaining what I'm trying to do to other people. Doing dishes.. But that's not necessarily a Primal thing. Unless you count that I've always previously eaten out as much as possible to avoid dishes, which is a large contributor as to WHY I need to make this lifestyle change and stick with it.

          • New to Primal

            Hi! I am here to introduce myself. I am a 45 year old female from NJ. I am a classically trained nutritionist, food scientist and chef. Phew do I have some work ahead of me. I am here because NOTHING in my education and training has prepared me for being a 45 year old, overweight, HBPressured female. None of the strategies I was ever taught have worked for me to get the excess weight off - I am 5 feet 8 inches tall and 200lbs. Even organized weight loss clinics have not worked for me. Granted, I am pretty fit for an overweight person as I have been weight training for years - my personal best in deadlifting is 205 pounds, and am pretty active with moving around. My problem is the fat never came off before I carved out muscles so my muscles are covered up with a layer of fat. After working with a trainer with kettle bells, I have finally decided to give Primal a try. Going on week 2 and I am feeling really foggy - I think I have the carb flu! I am a recovering carb junkie. It's been hard and I have setbacks but I am in this for the rest of my life -if it works for me. Thanks!

              How Primal are you: I have tried to go 80-100% several times and seem to have slip ups and then give up. I know this is the best lifestyle for me and want my whole family onboard. Me and my boyfriend just agreed to try it again and we started yesterday. Going to try to gradually move the kids in that direction. We plan to go for 80-100%.

              Do you consume dairy: Just butter and maybe a little heavy cream.

              Do you drink coffee or tea: Rarely

              Motivator for switching to Primal: I had a kettlebell coach that told the class about the primal lifestyle. I was intriged and decided to read up on it. At the time, I was in the middle of training for a half marathon so I had a hard time sticking to it. I don't run long distance anymore, so I'm ready!!

              Favorite exercise: Weights

              Favorite Primal food: Avacodo on salads, steak, hoping to find many more

              Best part about being Primal: The energy and feeling of well being. Not having that bloated feeling.

              Worst part about being Primal: The lack of options when you eat out or go to a social event. Where I live it is more about quantity and not so much about quality.

                Do you consume dairy: Yes - cream in my coffee, and butter to cook with.

                Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes, both.

                Motivator for switching to Primal: This is embarrassing. I saw Alec Baldwin (American actor) on a tv commercial last fall and was amazed at how good he looked. He had been looking very bloated and haggard there for a while. I googled and discovered he was eating lchf and found this forum while googling around. I read some forum posts and some of Mark's blog posts and bought the book.

                Favorite exercise: Lifting heavy things, long walks, bicycling.

                Favorite Primal food: It changes from day to day....today it's probably charred NY strip steak.

                Best part about being Primal: Feeling happy and optimistic about life.

                Worst part about being Primal: It's extremely hard for me to actually lose weight, I've found. I have to count calories, which I was hoping to avoid.

                  How Primal are you: I consider myself a freshatarian at this point

                  Do you drink coffee or tea: tea with lemon, occasional coffee

                  Motivator for switching to Primal: I want to get off grains completely. Want to be more svelte. I've been a chronic cardio girl, also chronically injured as a result. It never really yielded the results I desired.

                  I'm a 17 year cancer survivor, healthy and probably too active- I've worked in a gym for 20 years teaching all kinds of cardio stuff. Got into yoga about 8 years ago and love it. Injuries have sidelined me and I realize less is more. I was vegetarian for several years, but was feeling bad so added in lean meat and instantly felt better. I'm not big on grains, but know I need to let them go completely. I'm tired of always aspiring to get where I want to be physically. I think going primal is my answer. I just had knee surgery to repair a tear so I have been off working out the last 6 weeks and have 4 more recovery. I figure there's no time like the present to quit the excuses and back to exercise totally recovered and healed and with a new mentality. I've wrestled with food issues and body issues, but I can see after reading success stories how primal is the key.
                  I'm in my healthy weight range, but desire my body to look different and feel different.

                    Motivator for switching to Primal: After years of abusing my body through the wrong foods, substances, and over/inconsistent training, going primal is part of recommiting to taking care of my body the way I should.

                    Favorite exercise: Barbell Row

                    Favorite Primal food: Right now eggs, blueberries, and blackberries

                    Best part about being Primal: Huge improvement in digestive health, increase in discipline

                    Worst part about being Primal: Being of Italian descent, sometimes I want to go crazy on some pasta

                      Do you drink coffee or tea: Both, one cup of black coffee in the morning and green tea.

                      Motivator for switching to Primal: My husband and I both the best out of life and realised how much junk we were putting into our bodies on a daily basis. Plus I want to become a Roller Derby superstar so health and fitness are key!!

                      Favorite exercise: Rollerderby, fishing, walking.

                        Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes, decaf coffee and occasional black or green tea

                        Motivator for switching to Primal: I've been steadily refining what kind of eating is best to help my body heal from the chronic pain and fatigue of Fibromyalgia.

                        Favorite exercise: Anything dance-y

                        Favorite Primal food: After 4+ years as a vegan, I'm soooo happy to be eating bacon again!

                        Best part about being Primal: Even though I still struggle with fatigue, I've got more energy than I've had in many, many years.

                        Worst part about being Primal: I think my sweetie secretly thinks I've joined a cult. Seriously though, it's hard to be the only Primal one in my circle, especially since I've got all this new energy and I can't get anybody to get off the couch and come hiking with me!

                          PS. If you bring Almond or Coconut milk to Starbucks and ask them to make you a drink...most will, I've found. It needs to be slow, though.

                                PS - I have only read Mark's Primal Blueprint, but it totally resonated with me. I've only been at this for a little over a week and I feel good. I already feel fine not eating by a certain time and my quality of sleep has improved. As to your favorite primal food - you made me so hungry. Can I get your recipe for the Bolognaise...please? And do you use the peeler on zucchini to create a pasta-ish look to your veggies? Okay...I'm going to confess that at 45 I still don't know how many pounds are in one stone. And as to hula hooping...what a fantastic idea. I'm going to go get some for me and my daughter so we can hula while we watch tv instead of sitting ... I don't know why I didn't think of that very fun exercise play.
