    Name: Marianne

Your location: Altrincham, UK but I am Austrian by origin

    Age (If you want):39

How Primal are you:I have been slowly getting used to the idea...have been incorporating it over the last 2 months

Do you consume dairy: Since I have a central european background with lots of dairy, I have no problems digesting it so yes I do have full fat milk in my tea, some cream, curd, cheese, sour cream and sometimes a bit of whey and buttermilk

Do you drink coffee or tea: herbal tea and assam, no coffee

Motivator for switching to Primal: I do not want to be sick all the time ( have been suffering with all kinds of things over the last two years since living in the Uk) and wanting to get back to my "normal" weight

Favorite exercise: I love walking, interval training and free weights

Favorite Primal food: eggs and avocado

Best part about being Primal: feeding your body what it needs

Worst part about being Primal: finding it difficult to adapt to social situations when it comes to family gatherings and work related events and getting your head round the simplicity of it all.

      Your location:Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

      Age (If you want): 31

How Primal are you: 100%, 3 years now.

      Do you consume dairy: no

Do you drink coffee or tea: coffee

Motivator for switching to Primal: general health and well-being, plus my migraines that I've suffered from most of my life virtually disappeared. Huh? Go figure

Favorite exercise: I'm a bodybuilder, anything that involves biceps.

Favorite Primal food: My AM pre-workout omelet

Best part about being Primal: The way I feel, the way I look, the feeling that I finally woke up (kind of like Neo in the Matrix) and am one of the enlightened few

Worst part about being Primal: Ugh, everything social. Trying to explain what I eat and why I eat it, trying to eat out and stay within primal and not have the waitress spit in my food when I order the fish without the sauce and instead of the potato, can I have extra vegetables? My non-primal boyfriend guilting me into white bread. The best thing about this lifestyle? Me. The worst thing? Everyone else.

Oh, and then there are the people that want to look like me, ask me for advice, and then don't listen to anything I say.

How Primal are you: 75%- I'm great at home, but occassionally eat legumes with my partner who is not primal, and prefers not to eat as much meat as I do. When I go out for dinner, I'm very bad at sticking to primal only foods. But I'm definitely working on going 90% + primal this year. I'm having a hard time with my sugar/carb addiction, and am trying to conquer that right now.

Do you consume dairy: Occasionally cheese, don't drink milk otherwise.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Tea often. I live in the neighboorhood with Seven Cups, an awesome tea house which imports the finest varieties of teas from china. hundreds of them. I will very occasionally have coffee w my partner at the little coffee stand run by the local sw barista champion, but it is only a few times a month.

Motivator for switching to Primal: I read Paleolithic Perscription in college, while living in a vegetarian co-op, and read Paul Shephards Coming Home to the Pleistocene, which completely changed my life and my view of humanity and society. LIving primal/paleo style feels inherently right to me, plus the added health benefits of avoiding diabetes, heart disease, Insulin resistance related diseases of modern civilization and the weight loss aspect are a definite benefit. But mostly i want to feel vibrant and alive and full of energy and I truly feel that way when I eat primal.

Favorite exercise: Hiking, or swimming in a river or lake.

Favorite Primal food: Steak, or blueberries.

Best part about being Primal: Being able to eat as much fat as I want and not blink an eye!

Worst part about being Primal: Being surrounded by non primal eaters, and being tempted constantly by the things I should not want to eat, but still do.

                Your location: Regina, Canada

                Age (If you want): 30

How Primal are you: I avoid grains entirely, sugar/sweeteners mostly (occasional dark chocolate, honey in dressings, that sort of thing), and processed foods always. Given that I eat dairy (which I don't plan to give up, it works well for me) I'd say I'm at about 80%

Do you consume dairy: Yes . Usually about 1 serving a day, occasionally two. Cottage cheese, cream/milk in my tea, raw milk cheddar occasionally. If I could get raw milk I would drink it.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Tea once or twice a day, but mostly Roobios so no caffiene. No coffee.

Motivator for switching to Primal: Two years ago I was trying out veganism and then abruptly switched to a "traditional foods" approach - I guess I had an ontological shift. A few months back I was noticing feeling sluggish after eating grains (even properly soaked/sprouted ones to remove phytates) and that my sugar cravings weren't going away. Some of the folks at my crossfit gym were going Paleo so I did some digging and found that I like the Primal MDA approach better. So, I convinced my partner and now we are both doing it and easing our son into it as well.

Favorite exercise: CrossFit . . . I'm really digging the olympic lifting lately and am a big fan of pullups.

Favorite Primal food: avocado (how did I live my whole life without it?!), steak . . .all of it, really

Best part about being Primal: I feel better than in a long while and I am trimming down quickly, I expect my bf% will be down a fair bit by summer's end. Crossfit is getting easier.

Worst part about being Primal: grocery costs have gone up a bit and I've had to answer the same questions to friends over and over . . . but neither is that big a deal.

                  Age (If you want): 22

How Primal are you: 85%. Living in a culture where the staple is rice. I can hear my grandma asking "You're eating raw vege for lunch? Won't you get hungry really fast?". Au contraire, I can go longer between meals now.

Do you consume dairy: Yeap. Occasional cheese, butter, milk and yogurt

Do you drink coffee or tea: Occasionally. Tea's an integral part of my culture

Motivator for switching to Primal: Vanity at first but gradually realized that it just makes sense. Thanks to Mark really. And obviously, who doesn't wanna look like Mark at that age? So aesthetics and health for me.

Favorite exercise: Sprints & bodyweight exercises

Favorite Primal food: Big Salad ala Mark with choice of protein.

Best part about being Primal: Watching the flab melt away while eating great food, not feeling lethargic.

Worst part about being Primal: Crashing after lunch time after a typical non-primal fare loaded with refined carbs. Not the worst per se but does well to remind me why simple sugars should be avoided at all cost!

                  Viva la Primal

                      Age (If you want): 27

How Primal are you: I'd say about 95%. I allow myself 2 "non-Primal" days a month, and I don't even enjoy those much anymore.

Do you consume dairy: Very rarely.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Sometimes if I need a pick-me-up, or to relax.

Motivator for switching to Primal: Over the last couple of years I lost 120 lbs by cutting out grains (about 90%). Now I'm focusing on losing that last bit of belly fat and gaining muscle. Plus it just plain makes sense!

Favorite exercise: I'm still learning how to do strength training, and I like it. I've been a runner for a little while, so I like sprints too.

Favorite Primal food: Seafood! And farm fresh eggs, and meat, and veggies, and fruit. Oh hell, all of it.

Best part about being Primal: Eating fat. I love that I can eat well, and don't have to eat 6 times a day. I don't have to count calories anymore either.

Worst part about being Primal: The social aspect is definitely more difficult. My friends and family still don't get it. I swear my mom is determined to cook as many un-Primal foods as she can when I visit them for dinner.

                        Age (If you want):24

How Primal are you: I eat all primal food, except for I can't afford going all organic. So I'll say..60%? I make sure all my fat come from organic sources though.

Do you consume dairy: yes, cream, occassionally cheese and yogurt

Do you drink coffee or tea: both. I drink coffee at school and green/white tea at home. with the hectic school schedule this semester, it's just very hard to give up coffee right now...

Motivator for switching to Primal: health and I guess "knowledge is power", after learning about what's good for you, there's just no reason treating urself badly.

Favorite exercise: ultimate frisbee, wondering around(if it counts. haha)

                            Age (If you want): 49

                            How Primal are you: ~ 90% ?

Do you consume dairy: Yes, only cottage cheese, few times per month.

Do you drink coffee or tea? Lots of tea. I am a coffee addict who is currently "off".

Motivator for switching to Primal: Feel better than when on starch, high carb, vegetarian fare; Brief, intense, frequent varied exercise "fits" better for me than LSD, etc.

Favorite exercise: Variety, as in RossTraining.com Infinite Intensity. KBs, C2, swimming laps, walking, etc., etc., etc...

Favorite Primal food: Beef, Chicken, Fish + tons of veggies, with berries for dessert. (Eat this way daily.)

Best part about being Primal: Simplicity, balanced energy, weight maintenance, health.

Worst part about being Primal: We live in a (currently,) carb inundated world. If not prepped, spontaneous choices abound with starchy carbs.

Age (If you want): Chronologically, 49

How Primal are you: I知 just on day 6, but I知 off to a great start!

Do you consume dairy: I知 still debating about how much dairy to include in my diet. All I致e had so far this week is some yogurt that was still in my fridge. I guess I値l see as time goes on.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Black tea, LOVE it.

Motivator for switching to Primal: I致e been doing P90X for about a year and following the 田lean nutrition plan that comes with it. I致e been very happy with the development of my upper body/core muscles, but I swear, the fat on my booty is the same darned fat that was there a year ago! Several weeks ago, some friends went Primal, started seeing results, and really loving it. So I did some research, and I知 on board. This makes so much sense to me. I知 really anxious to see what kinds of results I'll create with this lifestyle.

Favorite Exercise: Hiking with my husband

Favorite Primal food: So far I am loving the fact that I can eat nuts!

Best part about being Primal: Even after just 6 days, I致e noticed that I don稚 crave the starchy carbs like I used to. And since I知 not craving them, I haven稚 really missed cutting grains out of my diet. Very cool. I thought it would be tougher for me.

Worst part about being Primal: I noticed that many of you mentioned the social aspects as being difficult, ie; friends and family not understanding your commitment. Everyone I know already thinks I知 over the top with fitness. If I tell them I知 following a new nutrition plan, they値l probably nod vaguely, say 登h, good, and run away before I launch into an in-depth explanation! The worst part for me? I知 not sure yet. Of course, when I try to serve my husband the jicama I bought yesterday, things could get interesting!
