    Hi !! I am new and thought this thread would be a good place to start ...

    The Questions:

    Age (If you want):

    43 (and proud of it)... husband and two boys, 3 and 9 - no, I'm not gonna whip out the pics ... unless you ask !

    How Primal are you:

    Just starting with it, waiting for my book, but, after a lifetime of dieting and over 15 years of trying to find the optimum way of eating - for life -I am really excited !

    Do you consume dairy:

    Yes ... i have done the "no dairy" route before - I really like having cheese in my life ! ... I have a 3 year old who was born 5 wks early and had asthma and allergies - we gave him raw milk for a year or so - now he is big and strong and healthy !

    Do you drink coffee or tea:

    Yes, both ... love some coffee and green tea ... trying to reduce caffeine and switch to decaf, though ...

    Motivator for switching to Primal:

    Gosh, where to start ??? Umm ... I wandered in from a link on an anabolic site - I love lifting and want to gain strength - kinda having a hard time with that on the traditional carb-based load since I really don't do a lot of carbs - health issues include hypothyroid and adrenal function probs as well as gluten-intolerance ... basically, wanna be healthy and look good !!

    Favorite exercise:

    Weight lifting .. sorry ...

    branching out into tabata stuff and kettlebells

    Favorite Primal food:

    Mmmm .... meat ! ... grass-fed beef ... hehe ... I was vegan for 5 years - it's good to be back !

    Best part about being Primal:

    Well, I have tried the Weston A Price eating before (dang along with a bunch of others), a year or so ago - sorry, but the lack of fitness interest really put me off - there are two sides to the coin of a healthy lifestyle, so I am loving this !!

    Worst part about being Primal:

    Errr ... having to "explain" to friends ... !!! Luckily, I am in a big metro area where getting food (hunting and gathering) is a lot easier - Oh, and the 9 year old complaining about why his lunches have to be different from everyone else's !!!!

    Finally, since I am glutton for punishment, I have started this now the week before we are going on vacation to the beach - with another family - a half-hour from any grocery stores LOL !!! .... I'll be the one with the greasy-looking baggie with the jar of coconut oil LOL!

      How Primal are you: Trying to be more. Still getting the eating and exercise down.

      Do you consume dairy: Some. Cream, butter, raw cheese.

      Do you drink coffee or tea: Tea

      Motivator for switching to Primal: Health. I'm gluten intolerant and was looking for a way of eating that didn't include grains. Most of the gluten free books find other types of breads. I decided not to go that route.

      Favorite exercise: Walking

      Favorite Primal food: Steak!

      Best part about being Primal: Not being sick all the time.

      Worst part about being Primal: Expensive. But worth it.

        How Primal are you: Slowly easing into it, aiming for fully primal for the 3rd August start to the challenge.

        Do you consume dairy: I don't like most dairy so I'm lucky, but do have cheese and sour cream.

        Do you drink coffee or tea: Green tea

        Motivator for switching to Primal: I've been looking a lot at diet since being diagnosed with MS last year and decided that primal is the way to go for me.

        Favorite exercise: Hiking/tramping

        Favorite Primal food: Chicken

        Best part about being Primal: I haven't had the full benefits yet but I'm hoping it will make a difference to the amount of MS relapses I have.

        Worst part about being Primal: The sugar cravings at the moment aren't too crash hot.

          Motivator for switching to Primal: Interested in effect of low carb high protein primal diet and what is has done for me over the last 9 months

          Best part about being Primal:It's simpler to shop! so many aisles I dont bother with!

          Worst part about being Primal:Nothing - maybe difficulty eating out in some locations

            How Primal are you: Hmm, I'd say 90% on most days, def. no grains, but a little bit of dairy or chocolate here and there

            Do you consume dairy: A splash of milk in my coffee in the mornings and on the rare occasion some raw cheese, but nothing other than this : )

            Do you drink coffee or tea: Coffee guru,sorry just can't nudge it out.

            Motivator for switching to Primal: When I ran I was looked at as an odd ball for not eating grains, and then I discovered the "paleo" and "primal" theories and was immediately hooked. It all made sense to why I hated the feeling after eating tons of simple carbs. I started primal eating b/c I know its what keeps me feeling good and lean.

            Favorite Exercise: Cycling

            Favorite Primal food: Almond butter!!

            Best part about being Primal: Experimenting with new recipes and knowing I'm doing something great for my body!

            Worst part about being Primal: Making sure I'm getting enough carbs to fuel my endurance needs on the bike is really hard for me. (Anyone got any advice!?!) And I miss chocolate

              Motivator for switching to Primal: actually started to feed my cat a raw diet and realized I should look into what humans naturally are supposed to eat also

                Motivator for switching to Primal: Life. Self experimenting. Research. Occupational hazards of setting a good example for clients.

                Best part about being Primal: Being lean.

                Worst part about being Primal: Guess I'll find out when I start reading the book and more articles.

                    Both really.

                    I have found that posting my real name creates more... animosity among some posters, especially the ones with a bad attitude. Not sure why. Now I just keep it anonymous, even in local boards.

                    But, I really do like jazz, much to the chagrin of my clients.

                      How Primal are you: 80% or so, depends on my coffee consumption (see below)

                      Do you consume dairy: yes, but in very limited quantity

                      Do you drink coffee or tea: I love my coffee. I use almond or soy milk for lattes (don't hate me I use a vanilla syrup to the tune of about 10g of pure sugar per coffee)

                      Motivator for switching to Primal: headaches, general malaise and exhaustion (not helped by an 80 hour work-week) and desire for a healthy, fit body. Ironically I've been promoting primal diets for dogs and cats for the last 8 years and never once thought to apply it to myself. I truly believed conventional wisdoms load of hooey and thought "there's no way I'm going to restrict all the foods I love and exercise 18 hours a day to lose weight". Thank god for MDA!

                      Favorite exercise: walking my dogs

                      Favorite Primal food: steak and nuts and bacon and eggs, pretty much all the meaty/fatty/protein goodness.

                      Best part about being Primal: hearing "Holy crap you look amazing!" and not having a headache at the same time.

                      Worst part about being Primal: Carb cravings, just recently started having massive cravings for all things potato. And ice cream when its hot.

                        Greetings! I'm a fun-loving dude who just discovered this amazing site about a week ago! I look forward to participating in all of the going ons here!

                        How Primal are you: Just started a few days back, so I'm not sure exactly "how primal" I will be!

                        Do you consume dairy: Just the occasional cottage cheese, or hard, aged cheese. Been off dairy for about 2.5 years now.

                        Do you drink coffee or tea: I enjoy the occasional tea, white is my favorite (antioxidants with less fluoride [YUCK])

                        Motivator for switching to Primal: I did the whole "raw vegan" thing for about 40 days and as much as I enjoyed it, I missed the meat WAY too much. Therefore, primal seems to be the lifestyle for me.

                        Favorite exercise: I like hiking...naked. Though, I do enjoy me some strength training and yoga a lot as well.

                        Favorite Primal food: God, that's a toughie. I suppose I'll go ahead and say scrambled eggs with shiitake mushrooms. (breakfast this morning!)

                        Best part about being Primal: The fresh veggies along with the MEAT! I also love how I can keep my muscles and stay lean, as opposed to starting to become skinny fat when I was doing the raw vegan thing.

                        Worst part about being Primal: Even though I just started, I'm sure that the thing I will miss the most is pigging out at family gatherings (we always have THE BEST desserts!) But, maybe I'll try making a few primal alternative desserts (any suggestions?) and introduce them to my relatives.

                          Motivator for switching to Primal: To feel more healthy, and lose the weight around my midsection. I've lost 20 pounds since I started dieting, but I can't seem to get rid of the last 5 that sit on my belly.

                          Worst part about being Primal: Sometimes I really miss overly processed junk food! I actually cut out the majority of the 'crap' in my diet a while back, but I was still using the occasional frozen organic meals-like that makes much of a difference. I was also quite a fan of soy crumbles, tofu, etc... I was a firm believer in carbs until recently, when I realized my body was not reacting like I want it to. I'm really looking forward to this new way of life!
