  • New to the forum, but not to Primal-looking for motivation

I actually went Primal in fall of 2010; lost about 50 pounds without even trying over the following few months and my health improved dramatically.

Thing is, while I am still Primal, stress of my divorce and grad school led me to making "exceptions" for things like dairy and sugar/sweeteners and potatoes because they are my comfort foods. So instead of 80/20 I'm more 60/40, when I really need to be about 90/10. Also, for the past six months I've been almost continuously ill with whooping cough and back problems. I haven't gained much weight back, only about 10 pounds; but I still really need to lose about 50 more.

When I eat non-primal foods like grains or refined sugar (or beer!) I feel terrible, but its hard for me to cut them out completely because of the emotional connection. So, I've joined this forum hopefully to get some peer support while I work on going back to being 100% primal. I know what I need to do, and I know what works, but this self-imposed year-long plateau brought about by bad food choices is getting me down. I'm frustrated with myself and need some positive support but no one I know in this city is Primal, and all my friends and family keep urging me back on the SAD because they think Primal/paleo is unhealthy, despite my own living proof of how positive a change it has made in my life.

So glad to see so many success stories here! I'm still busy in grad school but I hope to check in here fairly regularly.

Hey! If you need support, I can help! I'm insanely good at listening to people who need to vent, or are having problems, or whatever is specific to them.

Hey, I figure if you've kept most of the weight off through a time of severe stress, that is already a very impressive accomplishment. Celebrate your success. And welcome.
