  • So discouraged:(

I began The PB 2 wks. ago. I am strictly following the diet plan and exercising every day.
I am eating meats and veggies 3x a day and NO snacking, sans an apple here or a handful of blueberries.
My weight has actually INCREASED! I am beginning to think that this may not be the weight loss diet for me.
    I am SO DISCOURAGED(

I would depend on what your weight was to begin with, and your body composition. If you are gaining muscle and losing fat there is every chance you will put on weight but appear slimmer. Thin people do put on weight in terms of mass, but in a good way in terms of body composition.

Can you post a sample menu for a day? Also you may not actually need to eat 3x a day. Are you eating just until you feel full and then stopping? Are you cooking a meal because you are actually hungry, and not just because "I should eat now"?

Edit to add: Are you maybe not eating enough fat? Post what you eat in a day so we can help you pinpoint what your issue might be.

This too. It's a permanent healthy life change that incidentally tends to result in weight loss for those who need it and weight gain for those that need it.

            Hey, Michelle --

Not to get discouraged yet. Can you post what you've eaten all week? There is a lot of tweaking most of us go through, and sometimes you can eat just a little something that throws everything off. If you post your food, people can give lots of ideas that might work for you.

Hang on in there! Increased weight is not fun.

            Warmly,
            Lopi

Depending on your diet/lifestyle before starting, 2 weeks may not be enough time for YOUR body to adjust. I've heard of people on other diets not getting results because their body thinks they are starving and slows the metabolism down.

Are you using a lot of salt that may be contributing to "water weight"?

Breakfast- Left over pulled pork and one egg
Lunch - venison burger and broccoli.
                Banana
Dinner- 4 slices London broil and squash.

                Walking 2miles a day and gym 3x a week.
I am completely full and do not snack. Have been strictly PB.
Perhaps my portions are not small enough? I have read testimonials here of at least some weight loss within 14 days?

If your goal is to lose weight, you might want to try cutting out the banana and other sweet fruit, even if they are PB-friendly, at least at first. Eat berries if you would like, but even that not every day. Other people with other goals may eat them, but I have personally found them to inhibit my weight loss. Also make sure that your pulled pork doesn't have sugar in it. Otherwise your menu looks great! Eat plenty of fat please And don't worry too much, you will feel better and meet your goals eventually.

Primal / Paleo is a framework that sets you up for success, and somewhat intolerant to overeating, but it won't cure it. At your height and weight, it is very likely you are simply eating too much food. The right components should make you feel full, and not hungry.

To put in perpective, I'm a VERY active 5'8" male, 175lbs. I eat about HALF as much food as you do. Think about it.

Michelle it sounds like you have really embraced the primal blueprint. I know many people on these forums are not walking two miles a day. I also praise you for your 100% compliance to the diet; that's pretty tough initially for a lot of people.

I think it's time to reduce your carbohydrates a bit. I didn't say calories, but carbs. I think if you toss the fruit out for a month and replace it with some coconut oil or more meat/liver/eggs it would help you to lose weight.

For weight loss on the primal diet you really want (need!) to be more ketogenic. How much depends on how fast you want to lose the weight and your own needs in terms of comfort.

stay in there it unfortunately does take some time, effort, experimentation and inevitably some failure to reprogram your metabolism to suit your goals and needs. It is a learning process for both you and your body/hormones/metabolic pathways.

Took my body at least a month to figure out how to efficiently use fat for energy. Drop the fruit, up the fat (especially coconut oil and real coconut milk) to get into ketosis better.

There's Primal for maintenance, which looks like about what you are already doing, and then Primal for fat loss, which means more meat and fat and a few greens, eggs, etc. but nothing like fruit or squash.

I am going to hang in there. Probably lay off the
Sweet fruits like you said. I wish I had a list of the high GI fruits I should stay away from.
You all really rallied around me today--thanks so much!

Will cut back on the fruits. Also, I have coconut milk yet not sure how to prepare it?
