  • I need guidance (weight loss related)

Hi all. I have been grain-free and sugar-free for about six months. I've actually followed the GAPS diet, not sure if people here are very familiar with it. I guess you could say that it's a cousin to paleo.

Anyway, here's the thing: I haven't lost much weight. And I need to. I had a baby eleven months ago and I still have a good 15 lbs minimum to lose. I am very uncomfortable with the extra weight since I still look pregnant from some angles. For the month of January I was very strict with the diet and I also was exercising regularly. With two young kids my time is pretty limited, so I've been doing a 30 day shred DVD with Jillian Michaels. Despite all that, I basically didn't see any weight loss progress - no changes in the way clothes fit, etc.

I have a lot of stress this past year - I've had a child who has been very sick and is constantly in and out of doctor's offices. I've also had postpartum depression that still lingers a bit, but that has been very much helped by diet (I no longer need any medication). I do wonder if the stress contributes to the weight problem.

So, please, I am in your hands. Tell me what to do and I will do it! My only caveat is that I do not have a ton of time to devote to exercise, but from my understanding primal-style exercise doesn't ask for tons of time each day.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but here is my take on exercise when you have young kids. You are getting the same exercise that your grandmothers have gotten since they came down out of trees 4 million years ago.

You only thing you might need to add is some short sprints once or twice a week. You don't need something like Jillian Michaels.

I design websites and blogs for a living. If you would like a blog or website designed by someone who understands Primal, see my web page.

Primal Blueprint Explorer My blog for people who are not into the Grok thing. Since starting the blog, I have moved close to being Archevore instead of Primal. But Mark's Daily Apple is still the best source of information about living an ancestral lifestyle.

And stress is never a good thing....see if you and your partner can make some time for each other, destress and take care of you.
Eating primal is not a diet, it is a way of life.
      Don't forget to play!
