  • Hello from Wisconsin

Hey everyone, just starting out w/ Primal eating and it's a bit of a challenge for me because I LOVE my bread and grains I know I have a sensitivity to wheat so I'm ready to say goodbye to it! Would love to hear any stories or tips on how to keep pushing forward and avoiding temptations

Welcome Cheesehead. I grew up in Beloit, Wisconsin but have lived in Seattle for the past 30 years. My mother still lives in Beloit.

Hey! I grew up in Janesville - now living near Seattle -What's up, Classic ;^) -
The 30-day challenge is my revival to Primal...I've been lazy and my body is ticked off. Joint pain, no energy, blah blah blah.
Keep at it ~ it's truly rewarding.

              Hey ToniWa,
I wondered what happened to you. I am renewing myself here now since my family issues have evened out a bit. I am doing the 100 pushup and 200 Squat challenges for this month. I figure it will only take a month since I am starting at week 3 for both. Started the pushups yesterday. I needed a kick in the pants. I did finally lose 3 lbs this past month after being stalled for a few month. yippee

Hey - another Wisc person here!

What worked for me was this: I didn't worry about calories at all, and hardly worried about any other nutrient levels. All I focused on was getting protein and veggies at lunch and dinner (I didn't care about breakfast but I nearly always have a spinach smoothie). Beyond that, I ate anything I wanted as long as it was primal - that meant lots of nut and spoonfuls of nut butter, dark chocolate, etc. I allowed myself to splurge and satisfy my cravings with primal foods. This really helped me get through those first couple of difficult weeks. Once I did, I was able to start backing off the snacks and balancing things better.

BBCoachSarah ~ I was an addict of the bread/cracker/cereal variety and I can honestly say that I only have passing fantasies of indulging in them again. I have let loose on a few occasions and my body has hated me for it. I was in Vegas this weekend and paid $40 for a 24 hr pass to 7 of the best buffets there. And holy hell, I took advantage! And then I was sick on Sunday with my joints screaming at me and a poofy gut. Yeah, that sucks, but it was the kick in the pants I needed to get myself back on track.

Did you grow up in Janesville? I did and left for the military waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 1992. I was there in July and the bugs were horrendous! I had to take a video when I was on the back roads near my parents place in Milton at night. It was like it was snowing there were so many bugs bouncing off my windshield. Ugh and more ugh.
Anyway, good luck on your primal adventure!

ToniWA--yes, this year the bugs are bad because the weather has been great. The rain/sun balance and temperatures have been nearly perfect. Great for a bug party! Your parents are in Milton? We have a cottage on Lake Koshkonong! Talk about bugs!

I'm a Wisconsin native too. I grew up in Beloit & Appleton, and might be moving back to eastern WI next year. I still have a lot of family all over the state.
