    Hey all,

    I have a couple friends doing paleo and was referred to this site. I'm in my first week of strict paleo and doing good.

    Background:
    Just turned 42
    Male
    5'8"
    170lbs
    Runner and weight lifter

    I started the Body for Life program about 4 years ago and went from 205lbs down to 150lbs. But I've slowly been gaining weight over the last 2 years. I really blame it on my running. I was doing a lot of marathons and even ultra-marathons (50 miles). The further I ran the more I ate and the more my body stored fat for the long runs. But now I'm really tired and worn out and have cut my running down to about 20 miles a week (all barefoot running) and plan to make one run a week a sprint, and the other runs, slow moving jogs. I was constantly craving carbs and now realize it's an addiction I need to break. I'd love to get back to the 8% body fat I had 2 years ago and at the same time not have to spend hours and hours running, and consuming my time. Paleo seems to make a lot of sense and after watching, "Food, Inc", I'm pretty disgusted with the food industry and looking for healthier choices.

    I've already gotten a lot of good info from these forums and looking forward to learning even more as I start this new journey.
