So we know there is a problem. How bout some practical solutions? It isn't enough to say "There is a problem! You need to do something!". As a parent, I could really use some practical, realistic ideas about what to do for my kids. Specifically, lunch-box solutions that will keep them eating healthy and able to concentrate in school (and not trying to trade away their lunch for some kid's HoHo). I'd love to go wheat/gluten free with my oldest kid but he's gonna be a hard sell. I'd also like to cut out dairy with him, but one step at a time! He's been diagnosed with ADHD but I want to try changing his diet before we attempt medication. As a parent it is so easy to feel overwhelmed by all the stuff you are probably doing wrong, so having someone help you do what is right can go a long way to helping solve the problem! Hoping tomorrow's edition of MDA has practical solutions for the seedlings.

One thing to consider is the "treatability" of diabetes today as preferred to the 60's. Modern medicine doesn't do much to prevent diabetes, but simply to curb it. Thus we have more capable diabetics passing diabetes on to future generations than we did years ago.
