Dear Readers: What Do You Want from Mark’s Daily Apple Videos?

It’s Monday and that usually means another round of Dear Mark, but today I have something a little different in mind. Today I have a question for you (along with a chance to win a Primal prize).

Since I launched Mark’s Daily Apple way back in 2006 it’s been my goal to help 10 million people take control of their health. While MDA now reaches millions of people every month I’m always looking for new ways to do a better job, so I’m coming to you for ideas. This is a joint effort after all. I couldn’t do it without you.

Over the years I’ve published nearly 4,000(!) blog posts. I don’t know the exact figure, but it’s probably upwards of 5 million words. That’s a lot of writing and I don’t have any plans to slow down, but I feel like it’s time to take things to the next level. I’m seriously considering publishing regular (say, monthly to start, and perhaps weekly down the line) Mark’s Daily Apple videos. Imagine instructional/how-to videos, interviews with experts in the paleosphere, and videos that give you some insight into my Primal life. While I have a few ideas of my own, nothing is set in stone just yet. That’s where you come in…

Dear Mark: Your Primal Cravings Questions Answered

cravingsleftfacing 1The response to the early release of Primal Cravings: Your Favorite Foods Made Paleo has been incredible. I understand that thousands of you have now received your copies and bonuses in the mail, and from the Facebook comments and emails I’ve received, you’ve made it loud and clear that you’re loving these innovative new Primal recipes. Thank you so much for your feedback.

Some of you have emailed with questions about the book, so I thought I’d use today’s Dear Mark to answer your inquiries. Below you’ll find the Table of Contents, the Index, the Nutrition Index and some words from the authors of this book, Brandon and Megan Keatley, to hopefully give you a better picture of what this book includes and is all about.

Let’s go!

Introducing Primal Cravings!

FINAL FULL FRONTprimalcravings jacket r13 webI am pleased to share Primal Cravings, the latest release from Primal Blueprint Publishing. This book will be available by direct order (with some cool additional free promo items, details below) for a limited time before it is released to the general public online and in bookstores. If you already have a collection of Primal/paleo cookbooks, let’s be clear that this volume distinguishes itself from the others in a few important ways. First and foremost is the emphasis on being able to enjoy your favorite foods, period. That’s right, it’s time to bring back some of your old favorites that were banished in the interest of going Primal! As you can see on the cover, this includes a big, fat, juicy burger with all the trimmings – even the bun! Oh, how about thin mint cookies, strawberry shortcake waffles, crispy chicken fingers, and the like? Get the picture? We’re talking delicious and highly creative meal and snack options that have been expertly modified by authors Brandon and Megan Keatley to be Primal-approved without sacrificing taste or texture.

New Mark’s Daily Apple Forum App

I’m pleased to announce a free smart phone and tablet app for the Mark’s Daily Apple Forum. I’ve been using it for the last week and have found that it makes browsing, reading and writing in the forum on smart devices a cinch.

If you’re not familiar with the forum, this is the perfect time to create an account and connect with the Mark’s Daily Apple community. There’s no better place to communicate with and get outstanding feedback from fellow paleo/Primal enthusiasts.

Here are a few screenshots of the new app (click to enlarge):

Crawling, Balancing, Rolling: The Importance of Practicing Natural Movements

StrongmadesimpleTracyThis is a guest post from Tracy Barksdale co-founder of True Nature Training. Tracy will be presenting at The Primal Blueprint Transformation Seminar and True Nature Training in Austin and Houston, Texas this coming May 4th and 5th.

My job is essentially to get people to have fun. I am a MovNat Natural Movement Certified Trainer and Parkour coach at True Nature Training who uses play and unconventional programming to get people active without realizing they are getting a workout. It’s so common to get stuck in our fitness routines. Push ups, pull ups, squats, and sprints are all obvious choices for a primal fitness program, but when we get bored or hit a plateau it can help to widen your repertoire to introduce new things. In many cases, this great “new thing” is actually very old. Natural movement is a movement philosophy with a set of principles defined and popularized by Erwan Le Corre, founder of MovNat, and based on natural human movements that we have evolved doing. Our ancestors had to crawl, climb, run, jump and more just to survive. Yet with our modern luxuries, we often don’t find ourselves needing to do these things as often. It’s not uncommon to hear someone proclaim with a hint of pride that they have not climbed a tree since they were kids, like it’s a sign of being a mature adult. Natural movements are not just for kids or those who are already active. Natural movement belongs to every human being, and it’s your duty to maintain proficiency in these practical movements because you never know when you may need to use them. Here are some movements that can benefit anyone regardless of age or fitness level.
